Third Tuesday on the trot with another important game. You know I never forecast an easy game and this won't be any different. On pure current form we should win it and I believe we will but easy isn't on my radar. Cheltenham can be a hard team to beat as one or two others have found out to their cost. Play as we all know we can and fingers crossed it will be ok. I'm still reading comments about how difficult our last games are and how we are going to struggle. I do wonder sometimes why any of the players even bother with belief like that. We are as good as any of the others in the top section. We have proved it by being up there for the vast majority of the season. Time to believe. COYG
Just Hardie, Garrick and Ennis to pick from up front and Broom or Randell in midfield. Or Sessengnon or Law at WB and Conor Grant or Joe Edwards in midfield When did we ever have luxuries like that?
I know. We have talked so many times about our strength in depth in the squad and how seamless it is when putting different people in. I keep saying this I know but whilst we many not get in the play offs and we may not win this match or that, we are as good as anyone else in the league. I'm not about to start crowing that it is going to be easy and we will do this or that but I am not about to start doubting the players and Manager either. Whatever happens now we have done very well this season.
A win Tuesday will cement our position in 4th position....and we will be eight points clear of Sheffield W in 7th position.
Cooper, Grant, Gillesphey, Bolton, Wilson, Edwards, Mayor, Houghton, Broom, Hardie, Ennis. Subs Burton, Garrick, Sessegnon, Randell, Law, Crichlow, Issaka. They sound rather dismissive of Cheltenham on pasoti.....lets hope the team dont underestimate the.
Once again, the opposition will think they did OK. Then they'll look at the scoreboard. Great finishes from Ennis and especially Mayor.
Clearly a lot of positives: 3 points: two scored: further good chances for Hardie & Ennis: none conceded again: no obvious injuries: all against a side in 12th place. Not an entirely satisfactory second half though. Perhaps we're so confident we can defend that we're happy to do it but we didn't get it down and seemed content just to hoof it away instead of retaining the ball. Results are all that count...
The final result is greater than the sum of it's parts. I actually thought the game tonight was a bit boring if honest. Our passing left a bit to be desired at times and there were other gaps in the play. But, we got a 2 - 0. 3 points and a clean sheet and to be fair what more could we ask of this team. No team goes out and steamrollers another team every game. They, that is Cheltenham. weren't all that if honest and were as bad as us passing wise and seemed to have little to offer in front of goal. A routine result.
