The longer this week has gone on, and it has seemed a lifetime at times, the more the momentum seems to have dropped off supporter wise. At first it was all about who had the best support and how many people would be going and who might or might not get promoted etc. Then it sort of drifted off as if everyone peeked too soon. Suddenly the match is tomorrow and everything there is to say about it has been said already. There is even a thread on the Portsmouth board pre match. I just want this one to be done and dusted now and we move on win lose or draw. No more fannying about just finish the bleddy job.
Well, I'd take a draw. It's not our first date. That was to the cinema back in December... but yes, her first match. I've already apologised in advance if she doesn't like it! I don't think she'd run on to the pitch unless I did, and I would only run onto the pitch if it was a pitch invasion to celebrate something and loads of people have... And it's kinda obvious that you're allowed on the pitch. At Farnborough once, the fans were invited onto the pitch over the tannoy.
It's a good test for her then. If you can't get passionate over a dockyard derby when 2nd and 3rd both going for automatic then there is no hope of passion anywhere. She'll just lurve it.
PLEASE DON'T MENTION THE 'P' WORD Last season aside, our most painful memory of the playoffs was in 1993. We missed out on automatic promotion to the Premiership by virtue of ONE GOAL. Finishing third, nine points clear of fourth, we merrily lost to Leicester City in the playoff semi final.
Think this game will be a classic with hopefully plenty of goals with Argyle just nudging it. Promotion today will be awesome as to get it over and done with. Newport will be gunning for us! Perhaps Pompeys billionaire future owner will favour us instead, or why not both with all the dosh he's got! Enjoy! COYG!
This game is more important for Portsmouth to win than Argyle.....so will that mean there will be more pressure on them and would an early Argyle goal rattle them. If Luton and Stevenage score early that will surely crank up the pressure on Portsmouth as well.
Oh no, we're not going to this game. We're going to Portsmouth v Cambridge. It was already sold out, and tbf, our game after Cambridge (v Cheltenham) is also sold out... we need a bigger stadium
Away from this game, Torquay have just taken the lead away to Lincoln! They're in a right relegation scrap but as it stands they'll only be one point from safety in the National League
Always one of ours isn't it! Still, having got tickets for Monday, I'll be happy for us to go up then. Let's hope Bradley is fit.
