All I'm going to say is Sarginson is the Ref so anything can happen. I'm sort of two ways about this replay. On the one hand I always want Argyle to win but on the other I don't want them to jeopardise the league results for it.
It gets worse. The 4th Official is Brett Huxtable. All we need is Trevor Kettle as a Lino and we will have the full house of idiots.
Look, he didn't see this, right? He was looking completely in a different direction and he didn't walk straight towards it as soon as it happened.
This is the start of half a dozen or so games that will define Argyles season. Playing all the big guns and some big journeys involved. Playing tonight I assume without Jephcott and Galloway....they are surely back for the Charlton trip ?
All covered by the good old 'Erald. Jephcott is set to play for Wales under-21s in their 2023 European Championship qualifier against Switzerland at Rodney Parade, Newport, tomorrow (4pm). The Pilgrims' forward scored his first goal at under-21 level when Wales won 7-0 away to Gibraltar on Friday. Defender Brendan Galloway has also been away on international duty with Zimbabwe for their final two 2022 World Cup qualifiers. He started the Warriors' 1-0 defeat away to South Africa in Johannesburg last Thursday and was then an unused substitute for the 1-1 draw at home to Ethiopia in Harare on Sunday. Lowe was not sure exactly when Galloway would return to the UK because he was not on a direct flight from Zimbabwe. So there is an outside possibility he could be included in the squad against Wednesday, depending on when he arrives back in Plymouth.
M Cooper, Grant, Gillesphey, Scarr, Wilson, Edwards, Broom, Houghton, Camara, Hardie, Garrick. Subs Burton, Mayor, Agard, Randell, Law, G Cooper, Pursall, Shirley, Jenkins-Davies. George Cooper on the bench tonight.
I'll just relay some of the fan comments. So efficient we're frightening sometimes Massive Energetic & clinical up front, disciplined & resiliant at the back, a joy to watch Far too good for Sheffield Wednesday And the current chant at Home Park "San Marino, they're better than you"
Comprehensive win. At no time in the match did I think we were going to lose that one and we were clinical up front and really solid at the back. The standard of play is to say the least really good and you have to wonder if you watch them who is going to beat them. Somebody obviously will but it is going to take a massive off day for us and a massive on day for whoever they are. I have to pinch myself to make sure I have witnessed the performance these days. !1,000 on a Tuesday night for a replay. Excellent from the Green Army. The Devonport End can be really funny sometimes with their songs and chants.
We can't go on saying anything other than we hope for promotion can we? We haven't lost a game in a significant competition since 7 August. That's right, we haven't lost a game in a significant competition for 3 and a half months. Given the way we play, heavy pitches may yet slow us down. We don't have a big squad so injuries and suspensions could knock us sideways. Clearly we will lose some but iit's also clear that, on our day, we can beat anyone in this division. What a season this is.
Was talking to a bloke I see regularly at Argyle last night. He like me is of an age and has seen a lot. His comment was this is the best squad he can ever remember. That is the second person to have said that to me recently. I'd have to say that even if the wheels did come off this season I consider I have had my moneys worth already. The passing game they played for a while last night was as good as you will see anywhere and I do mean anywhere. They still make the odd silly pass and mistake which shows their slight lack of top class but overall it is something to behold. The top players made cock ups in the England game even against San Marino so even that is forgivable. I still refuse to think about promotion though.
