Normal service is now resumed so what could possibly go wrong I hear you ask.

Firstly the current form guide. Both teams have lost one in the last 5. Our's was the most recent match and Southend was 5 games ago. The difference being that out of the other 4 we have won 3 and drawn one and they have drawn 3 and won one. I think it's fair to say though that Southend have improved most recently.

It will seem a funny old day to be watching football on a Friday. It's almost like being in the Championship or even Prem. I do prefer my football at 3pm on a Saturday but I guess we just do what we're told. So we are still short of one or two of our best players and it has to be said we did struggle last game without them. Think we are going to have to get used to not having some and get on with it. Can't say I can think of anything we owe Southend for although probably some swat could find something in history for revenge. We just need to give them a thrashing just in case there is something in the back ground. I need cheering up so over to you lads.

One link here with the last game....their manager...Chris Powell......manager at CHARLTON awhile back....quite successful and liked by the fans....has rejuvenated Southend's season...started with four straight wins.....and remember they beat Rotherham last week 2-0.....so what could possibly go wrong.
Will Gary Sawyer start at centre back and bring in Aaron Taylor- Sinclair as left-back as what happened when Songo'o came off last week.
No talk of when Sonny Bradley coming back as yet....seems to need to be signed off by the Doctor/Specialist to start playing again....has been training for the last week or so.

I think Sawyer at CB is a good idea.

He'd play on the left of Vyner which suits him but doesn't suit Songo'o. He's probably quicker than Songo'o and on his day is a better defender. If he is a bit leggy, there's a lot of standing about at CB compared to FB. Taylor-Sinclair has been appearing regularly as a substitute and is a decent stand-in in his preferred position at LB.

This allows Songo'o to be available to play in front of the back four...that is his best position, snuffing out opposition attacks.

The Herald seems to think Paton will start so especially if that's right, I think Songo'o will be on the bench.

He's been playing Fox as the central player in the midfield 3 with Diagouraga/Ness on the left and Sarcevic/Makasi on the right. Fox was subbed off on Saturday so I wonder if he'll drop out. Shame if so, he's a lovely passer of the ball.

With key players out it does give Adams the opportunity to freshen things up....the problem is he has been forced to do it in major positions that are the backbone of the team.
Paton came on at Charlton in a situation that was floundering....not ideal, he did not impress in such a situation and got a yellow card for his efforts....maybe giving him a start on Saturday might be more ideal.....new player new ideas...who knows.....Letheren might be nearer a start as well....we forget that Matthews is still quite young for a keeper.....maybe he needs a rest....catching the ball as he stepped outside the box was strange....the ref was lenient towards him....he was lucky.

The old Sonny Bradley saga is a bit of a strange one isn't it. Just doesn't sound like an injury thing because they usually talk about that. All this cloak and dagger don't know what is happening stuff only leads people to speculate wildly. I guess medical stuff is personal but even so. My guess is he has donated a testicle to his pet Gerbil and didn't ask the club if it was ok. The Gerbil however is eternally grateful and has pledged to leave his body to medical science.

The ref should have given a yellow, that's all. Deliberate handball by the keeper outside the area is no longer a red - unless he is also denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Could be fake news but I get the feeling Sonny Bradley will play. His shirt appears to be present in the changing room anyway......

Scunthorpe only draw....if we win we will leap-frog them......and if Peterborough don't win we could move up to 5th place....and the icing on the cake would be Northampton beating Charlton.....is that all to much to ask for.

ps....not quite because of goal difference.
