After recent financial setbacks, our benefactor has booted his son upstairs and appointed his first non family CEO to run his flagship business. Wise move and looks like he's on the up again - can we have some please? https://www.theedgemarkets.com/arti...peculation-vincent-tans-revamp-plan-continues
Thanks for that Sparkey. Did you have a flutter on their performance? Sounds like he sold his holding a bit early. Sweat the assets. Hmm. Sure the players are looking forward to that.
Nah remote. Tan only sold 70 million shares to that Jalil bloke at the then current price to give him a personal financial incentive to boost the company. Tan still holds 2.59 Billion (yes Billion! )shares that have now doubled in price - brilliant operator .
Yes, a drop in the ocean. I worked for a couple companies where the board had to buy a stake in the company before taking office. Puts some skin in the game. I think it a good idea. He is a sharp cookie, except where it comes to football.
No stopping our Vince - he's now made a cool personal £140M extra this last fortnight just through replacing his son Robin with a new guy as CEO. Chuck some our way Vince, but leave the football appointments to someone who knows about it - but have we got anyone? https://www.theedgemarkets.com/arti...e-rises-rm656-million-after-share-price-rally
Hey, FFS talk about cashing out! At least she could have given me my money back on City going up as champions this year......... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56594988
Tan now stepping down and relinquishing control of his busineses to devote his time to "other interests"...............could that include us? https://www.bernama.com/en/business/news.php?id=1948882 https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/vincent-tan-redesignated-berjaya-corp-nonexecutive-chairman
The 'managed by professionals' phrase jumped out at me. Will he now be in the market for a Director of Football? Ive often wondered about people like that. Why not retire and forget about work. Its not like he needs the money.
I guess it's in the blood Remote. To switch off completely unless due to health reasons is probably impossible. Looks like his future philanthropic work is aimed at his own country, understandably. However, it would be good to see some sort of planning and constructive boardroom/managerial restructure and investment aimed at us. Realistically I can't see that and his medium term aim is likely to be to sell us on without taking too big a loss. Promotion back to and stability in the Prem would assist that.
Bluey - got a feeling Tan has mentally written off his investment in City - I think he sees it as water under the bridge. Not saying he would walk away and hand it over for free, but he's probably even less likely to "take the shilling" by dumping the club with unsuitable owners than he was a few years back. As far as actual cash goes, his personal wealth has increased this past three weeks by more than he's invested in City this past 10 years. I know that's come on the back of recent losses, but he's got his billionaire status back now. It would take a good prospective owner (in Tan's eyes) to come along, and there ain't many of them out there.
Its sort of rhetorical. Ive asked the same about quite a few wealthy characters. I suppose they are where they are because of their character and the same trait stops them letting go. I did some work for a company in Crewe. Majority shareholder estimated to be worth £250M. Early 50s and still in the office 5-6 days a week. He built the company up from scratch. Can't / wont let it go. I suppose its why he gets up in the morning. We're all different. I'm happy not to have the wealth and to lead the life I do.
Your last paragraph is especially true Sparks. A very short queue on a very long road. Despite his shortcomings a few years ago and his lack of understanding of the game and all that goes with it he has been very good for the club and without him it is unlikely we would still be around at this level with a long shot chance of returning to the Prem again.
Vince doing more "cash gathering" - I wonder what he wants it for?.............. https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/vincent-tan-continues-trim-stake-berjaya-land
Messi leaving Barcelona? Aguerro leaving Man City? Harry Kane fed up with Mourinho's negativity? A couple of top class midfielders? I can dream can't I?
