The thing is, more people would be prepared to pay for a package that allowed them to watch all of their own games. Nobody wants to miss their team play and watch, say Fulham v Cardiff, apart from the relatively small number of fans of those clubs.

you are right. imo Netflix or some such will buy rights and sell them like this and sky will be toast.

Netflix themselves have said on several occasions that they have no intention to stream live sports... But someone else might.

I know someone here in the US streams all live games for a price... But its far above what I am willing to pay.

Amazon has premier league games next season. It will increase over time. Competition is a good thing

Sort of. Problem is, if you have games on sky, then some in by, then some on amazon, you either need to get all 3 to see them or you end in same place anyway missing games.

that's why imo someone will buy all.of sky's packages and force them off.

sky is a ridiculously old.model now. it should really be a niche market for country folk as streaming has surpassed it's model.

if we were allowed pay for just lfc games is buy it and dump sky sports in an instant.

I enjoy watching the games on Sunday afternoon as well as watching Liverpool, something needs to be done so that the package you have is tuned to the individual but as far as Sky Sports goes I think it's very good. For example I can watch a 30 min highlight show every week at 10.30 of every Liverpool game that is played on Saturday, beats MOTD.

People said that when BT Sports bought some games. It did initially become slightly cheaper to subscribe to Sky Sports but that was overshadowed by the fact you had to pay for a second channel making it more extensive overall.

The problem is channels buying rights. Only that channel can then show those games do they can charge what they like.

tbh bt sport have seriously ****ed up cos their streaming is truely god awful. they have a live sport but can't even stream it with a slight delay to ensure its not jumpy and crashing.

hence which service don't I have.. yeah you guessed it.

I can sky go sky sport and never an issue. they offer 3min highlights very shortly after games.

the thing is sky don't sell you a sky go only package. must have a dish, a box etc etc etc

The only problem with streaming is it depends on who does it, so for example I use Netflix and it's reliable and a very good service at a good price. I have used BT Sports online and Google Movies via YouTube both big companies ant completely unreliable.

Sky are changing though and going dishless soon. Whether they push it all through their now TV platform I don't know, but they already offer sky sports per type, like you can get football a bit cheaper if you don't want F1 etc.

Yeah I saw that. So at this point unless a company gets their act together like Netflix streaming would be a risk and personally I'd opt for the reliable Sky Sports so that I can watch games with no problems.

IMO two things need to change.

UK law. Others get a far superior service AND it encourages streaming illegally in uk which is not the intent of the law.

Need to break away from traditional tech, there's fiber to anyone really who wants it. The services provided by sky should mirror netflix really. Stream direct to TV and cut out all the bull. The only people who need a dish and box are people who live in the country and have no broadband. When 5g comes that will even be eliminated.

Sky are actually like google android phones. theres far too many versions of tech being supported out in the "field" as sky charge a fee to have it updated on a call out etc.

I honestly think its high time sky just offered a broadband and streaming package to spread the customer base.

My sky bill has got to the point with them consistently upping price where they need to go.

most things are now days to be fair.

the problem is its a business and they need to make profit but they have got too greedy and charge too much why people look for streams etc as the cost to follow sport is ridiculous now days.

they do need to start tailoring to individual fans needs before the bubble bursts. yes i get some clubs wont have a high following as others, but at least users will be buying what they want and not conned as part of a package deal.

end users will be happier to buy a package for the club they follow as well.

I would love a package where I can watch every Liverpool game but I would also want to watch other teams on occasion, I have the feeling I'd end up paying loads to get both.

For me they need to look at what music did.

Ok spotify etc are complained about bitterly by artists... but... Spotify killed napster and the illegal sharing of music. Who do you know who "steals" music anymore really?

Video is stolen a lot, moves etc. this is cos netflix and amazon are not willing to pay what studios want to put "recent" films up on thier services for fear of having to increase fees

My issue with sky is they are obviously not a broad enough customer base to sustain the fees they pay for football even, never mind rest of sport. This is why i have to pay lots more every year and am now forced to sit through 2/3 adds per show streaming on sky go.

Sky need to broaden the customer base by killing the hardware and going router and streaming only. that should/could vastly broaden the customer base. ESP across europe. the broadband flat fee is just gravy for them, anyone can provide that but is income. The streaming to anyone who wants to pay a subbie is where they need to be.

If I were say changed 10 quid for football.. or even 20 and got what i want to consume be it deferred footage of bt streamed LFC games or my choice of any game on 3pm saturday so i can just see LFC when i want to then I'd be happier.

It'd be just enough to say right I prob won't stream illegally. (the spotify model)

My view however is Selling rights to different match times to different companies does also create illegal streaming issues.
