I've been critical of Minamino but thought he played well after coming on today. I'm beginning to think he's more of a Lucas Leiva than Yossi Benayoun; high work ethic and came from a club where he was an attacking player but seems to be better at the defensive side of his game.
Accordign to the var it was reviewed but deemed normal contact. not sure how many 2 hand in the back extended arm pushes don’t go punished. Be interesting to see
Very impressed with Jones second half. Thought he ran the midfield for us. Shame he couldn’t put that shot into the corner after the run from half way, would have been a brilliant goal
Have to say Klopp lost his leverage over the many games argument after the length of time he let Salah Trent and Jota play on midweek. Jota was an impact injury so there is no saying that wouldn't have happened in training or this game. Jones needs to be allowed to be more aggressive as that boy has talent. Anyway onto Wednesday and a win hopefully.
our Pen was stonewall. first I thought it hit the guy who was square on with his arms tucked and thought very harsh, but on second viewing can see it’s the guy next to him who jumps turns his back and raises his arm to shoulder height outside his body. Always gonna get given.
Painful. An outbreak of uselessness seems to have affected all the top clubs this weekend, so mercifully we haven't lost ground - only the opportunity to gain some. We were lucky to get anything from that. Technically the penalty was correct, but really harsh imo. Mo's take was a bit rubbish as well, but fortunately went in. A game to forget and move on.
Would have been a brilliant goal. But he is playing way ahead of his years and dare I say it in two years there may be a debate of who is the better Scouser in the team.
He's really impressed me recently. I said he was a bit light weight a couple of weeks back, he's been superb since. If he'd scored that he'd have been compared to the likes of Gerrard and Mcmanaman; scouser making a great run to score.
We only deserved a point from this game. Our attitude at the start was bad. Totally underestimated the opposition. Looked down on them and thought that we only had to turn up to get the 3 points. Once you start like that it’s very difficult to change and you give the other team confidence. our away form is poor and I think it will really shoot our chances of retaining the title. Fulham is a team fighting relegation FFS.
Cant be a coincidence that top teams underperforming. We’ve played 9 more games than Fulham this season in a compacted few months. Add in fans coming back giving home fans a bit lift. think just have to appreciate that this season it’s going to be a lot more open.
A scouse defender and midfielder that are only a couple of years apart and both part of the first team? Why does that ring a bell...
The front 3 have more or less played non stop for 3 seasons. It is not surprising they are not at their sharpest. It's not as if Origi has ever been a viable alternative.
Lucky to get a point. So only Chelsea have lost out this weekend with none of the real contenders gaining yet, although Leicester still to play
The top of the league is so ridiculously congested. Leicester could be yet again the dark horse. Draws are better than defeats but still that’s 2 points dropped. Our away form is just poor.
Thing is, we’re second, for now anyway. Given the injuries and schedule we’re still in a good position. We’re just not used to poor performances but this season is quite unique. have said it before and will say again....if we sign defensive replacements early in January, we’ll be ok.
well we could have put Phillips on today and left Henderson in MF . For me the biggest problem is up front where none of the front 3 are at the best and 2 of them well off .
Games like that show that we do still lack something against teams that sit back and defend. The front 3 for all their brilliance aren’t a tricky best a man in a tight space type of forward abs midfiekd still don’t unlock the defence when it’s compact. Hasn’t been huge issue but in some games does let us down.
