seriously? He scored two coming off the bench and was, possibly still is, top scorer. Has gone 3 games without a goal (only because of a worldly save btw) and we are speculating on his commitment.

Not really given he was organising the line and pulled wijnaldum over to him leaving 6 v 3 in that section where the ball didn't go.

Carragher was right about that bit.

Unless VVD plays, he'd be organising the line anyway as captain.

Cara was right about him pulling players over, but it as nothing to fo with him playing CB.

Matip wasn't available. Would VVW or Phillips lead the line ahead of Hendo? No.

I'm not speculating on his commitment. All I said is the team's form has dropped off in three games against teams we should be beating and for some reason the front three aren't doing much at the moment.

Well, I said captain because that's what he is but generally, he's the leader on the pitch. No way anyone else (that was available for selection) would have led that line ahead of Hendo imo. The only person that leads ahead of him on defensive set pieces is VVD.

By your logic then he should be torn apart for the rubbish job he did as he should have the experience to k ow it was completely the wrong thing to do

pointless discussion. We had it covered but TAA failed to deal with it AND Ings Finish was a worldy. You can analyse it to death, in which case, some on here will find a touch that Salah didn’t make 5 minutes earlier, thus leading to a passage of play that led to the free kick and then the goal #blamesalah

Well our mate carragher exposed exactly what the Southampton lads saw.

A 2 on 1 with taa and a 6 on 3 at the far post.

    We made their decision easy.

Now I do agree taa ought to deal with it but the base error is not marking up properly.

There's a bit of a difference with a genuine bit of analysis by a qualified cb expert on tv and going back to some mythical touch 5 mins before ;)

At the end of the day, Hendo isn't a CB and we had no defensive leaders on the pitch. The fact that we've managed to concede so very few without VVD is credit to the likes of Fabinho.

As SKKK mentioned, Trent should have dealt with the ball and there would have been no issues in the first place.

And f*ck Carra! He's a clown in most instances - didn't think we should have got a penalty for the Mane foul. Carra comes across as hyper critical when it comes to Liverpool.

Pundits are odd, some are overly critial of former teams, just look at the way Keane talks about Man U (probably trying to prove they aren't bias), and some are too generous, Micah Richards practically gushes and beats off everytime he gets to talk about Citeh.

No pundit is neutral, same as any fan, they've all got their opinions, prejudices and experience with other teams

You cannot coach or set up anything to account for mistakes.

Klopp said it in his interview, we had it covered. Period. A mistake was made and even then it needed an outstanding finish. The root cause of this goal was that TAA didn’t clear. He was in the right position, regardless of where all the others were.

We’d better start winning soon, we haven’t had this much to moan about for 3 years <laugh>

Exactly this. People are over-analysing this, imo. If we could set up for and execute every event perfectly we'd never lose a game or concede a goal even.
Sometimes **** happens - learn from it and move on.

yeah sure guys, keep thinking like that.

    I'm glad klopp won't be.

On first look sure its patently obvious trent does something thick and pig ****. seems obvious.

Trent is actually contesting with walcott and actually ings really ought to have wijnaldum on him but henderson called him over and left 4 other lfc men behind him doing nothing. a second look says a better organised line might have made up ward prouse's mind to not even play that ball.

the fact I hear Carragher (liverpool lenged with 737 prop games under his belt) is a "clown" say it all :)

We've been ponderous and predictable due to lots of squad changes that's taken the sharp edge off.
Mane's hit a blip at the same time
TAA's crossing into the box has been errant this past few games
We've no target man in the squad (closest we have is Origi lol)

I say this with clenched teeth, we could have used Costa in the past three games to cause a kerfuffle on crosses in the past 3 games, he's free.

Teams like the last 3 sit back and with no space, our forwards can't compete in the air (2 midgets and a flat Firmino)

Our defensive uncertainty has our midfield tied up, making it ponderous and afraid to lose possession so less risk taking
