btw ...... we've done two trebles both of which included a European Cup, one of which included the league and the European Cup. So don't try and tell us how 'it feels' because you haven't actually felt it yet ......
hmmmmmm. must be 1984. with league cup 4 in a row. but.... really the league cup, fa cup and Europa are not really something that can compare to a league trophy and any two other cups. 1984 is way way better than 2001.
His point was three cups in one season. I was just pointing out that we've already done it a league title and 2 other cups in one season - ours was a better achievement obviously, no hmmmmmm about it
but 2001 wasnt imo. 4th league cup fa cup Europa that was great and all that. great year but it's nowhere near 1984
I'd argue it's more physically demanding since you end up playing the maximum amount of competitive games a club can possibly play. I think it was something like 76 competitive matches that season; that's two league seasons! But in terms of value and competitiveness, it's not as good.
hmmmm.... 38 league games is a given but to win a league you need to be more perfect than falling over the line for 4th. League cup is equal in 1984 and 2001. FA cup granted. we were out in 4th round in 1984 and won it in 2001 which is another 4 games. Uefa cup in 2001 was 14 games. (all knock out rounds) in 1984 EUropean cup was 9 games all knockout rounds. so we played 9 more games in 2001 in cups but 1984 was a 42 game league season so thats back to a whole 5 games extra. For me then theres squad size to come into it and in 2001 we had a few more players and more subs allowed in games than 1984.
Read the words I put my friend, read the words. Squad size is irrelevant. Yes, we're had a smaller squad yesteryear but so did everyone else too!
The old European cup was a great competition. Champions league is ****e. UEFA ruined it to look after the G14
We've won both and I can tell you from a fan's perspective, the win feels exactly the same. You'll never know......
