I think he might have spun straw into gold in exchange for a girl's firstborn child.

Such a shame Croydon Common were wound up. Crystal Palace may not have survived, or at least got a ground, if the Robbins had survived.

    Ah, Wilf. <hug>

Those were the days when ‘the bench’ meant ‘the bench’. Not rows of plush, leather bucket seats.

The game took place at the end of February 1983. I had forgotten about how bad the state of the pitch was towards the end of the season.

Was a great atmosphere in the Rookery that day

At the final whistle all the Liverpool players were on their knees crying as Tom Whalley strode through them looking for signs of life

Was a great photo of that in the Watford Observer the following week

I wonder how Barry Endean would perform in the current team? It is the same division, after all.

    Here is the semi final.

I only watched until Garbett's equaliser. What is more stunning is the Watford trainer, whose name I forget but he went on to manage Workington, lighting up a cigarette whilst he is sitting on the bench next to Ken Furphy.

Just had a quick look, and I bet there’s loads of these in a match of this vintage, but we should have had a penalty at 8 minutes 30 ish. I mean, in terms of VAR delays it’s probably stretching it, but… ;)

More to the point NZ how would todays pampered pets perform on that pitch with a leather ball in their custom made bedroom slippers
