i'm not sure Ben Foster made the right decision about the International duty...it was a strange thing to do, though i'm not sure what his reasons were..
Concentrate on club form ! and to be honest who would want to play for england the way things are at the mo
I agree - to turn down the chance to play for you country - or even represent them by sitting on the bench is something I would give my eye tooth for
I m sure they would take you Leo every one else is dropping out , There is no pride in england football or the FA at present times ! I can understand why Ben wants no part of it!
They need to change the structure and the personnel of the FA change the England coach and the whole damn set up and start from scratch using the german system as a model! Then and only then may we get some pride back in our national footy team!
I agree that everything about England is tainted - but dropping yourself is not the way to change it. The problems are with overpaid prima donnas - Ben can show how it should be done
Even though it seems England has lost credibility, i still don't get how someone who hasn't quite made it in the England squad and really needs to prove himself, can turn down a chance to play for his country...maybe i'm just too patriotic but i think he's wrong...
Me too - you don't have to join the prima donnas - he should be young enough to show how the next generation feel
Wow H is this our first difference of opinion!!? International organisations running football are full of crooks , Maybe Ben is objecting to that!, but more likely he is interested in progressing his form and chances in the Brum 1st team as they do happen to pay his not inconsiderable wages! The premiership is full of overpaid prima donnas as is international football(where England is concerned) Until we get an England team that have the pride in the shirt and sweat blood and tears for the shirt, I dont see why I should bother watching it ! Ben probably feels along the same lines!Who knows ,His Boss might have told him to "rest" from the England team!
Personally, I think this has as much to do with Capello as it does Ben trying to maintain fitness levels. Capello said he would be picking players on form, but when it comes to the big matches, it is the same players time and again. The other English keepers probably consider hart as the No.1 and unless he picks up an injury, that will remain the same for a very long time. As much as there is pride in the shirt, it must be somewhat disheartening playing out of your skin week in, week out, but all you do is travel with the England team knowing you have no chance of starting!! They've had Robinson, Foster and looks like Green all putting their England career on hold. I guess it just seems a little pointless being 2nd or 3rd choice, when they could be at home with their family, recharging their batteries for the next club match rather than travelling all over the world, training hard then watching your mates play from the bench!
Good post Kev and accurate as well I would guess, you arent going to put an international career on hold ,if there isnt something somewhere that has gone very wrong!
No fun being and England number 2 goalie when playing in competitive games eh.. very little hcance of tactical subbing and injuries to goalies are not as common as to outfielders....
Not at all Leo dont worry the snug/den is still is still intact! it just seems I only tend to disagree with you , ( which come on admit it does get a little boring at times) H and I will be fine ,when she`s finished ministering first aid to her feet!!!
