Look at our awful record from corners! 2 oldest teams on average last - maybe shows a lack of movement and sharpness.
Rather an odd stat really - if anything, shouldn't it read 'goals per corner'? It could equally signify that we just don't rely on corners to score - and just score most from open play. Or, as seems to be the case, from penalties.
Interesting thought - a legal challenge against Hawkeye and/or EPL for the Sheffield Utd disallowed goal that gave Villa an extra point - iif we are relegated. Talk about a can of worms. https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co...s/could-watford-mount-legal-challenge-4322372
It seems like every year some team or another finishes up in court here complaining that they have been treated unfairly. We had the ludicrous situation where one club didn't get their judgement until January following appeals, which threw the whole division into chaos. It seems that no matter what evidence is produced the courts do not interfere with the leagues authorities.
I do think that clubs could have a case though - when technology is introduced to great fanfare, the very least they can expect is that it actually works, especially when so much money rides on staying in the EPL. I don't buy into the old arguments such as 'bad decisions even themselves out over a season' - technology has been introduced to eliminate the bad decision making, therefore it should work and should eliminate bad decisions - if it doesn't, there have to be consequences.
Well it would be an interesting point as this was a technical error rather than just a bad subjective call which most VAR calls seems to be. Trouble is as OFH says it would take months and be all about money really.
I don't know quite how you resolve something like this. The technology only exists in the PL, and each club has spent a lot of money installing it. Having spent the money they have the right to expect it to actually work. Normal type of contract law where you have your rights to expect something you have paid for to actually work. Against that you have the ref who is in charge, with help from his linos. Football is not operating an appeals system that exists in tennis or cricket where the umpire can be asked to have a second look. It is relying on some person miles away watching a screen and applying dotted lines or whatever to check if the man in the middle has got it wrong. In the case we are discussing the ref didn't give the goal, which was his best judgement at the time. So if the technology didn't exist it wouldn't have been a goal.
I thought VAR and more so goal line technology was in most countries- not Scotland though. But for what ever reason the Premier league haven't deployed it as FIFA expected.
Apparently he has done well attracting interest from other clubs but big difference to La Liga ..and maybe the Championship!
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...t-40-per-cent-fans-vicarage-road-next-season/ I wonder how many fans would turn down the chance because they would have to wear a mask?
Funny how times change - I remember the days when the club would have been over the moon to have 8,000 turn up for a match.
Will fans be happy being told they cannot go because they are too old or at risk ? Also cannot see fans wearing masks by then.
I dare say that I will not be allowed to go. I'm in a high risk group and, more importantly, so is Mrs Fez as you all know. So are most of the people I sit with I'm sure. No problem wearing a mask for me though, steamy specs excepted.
