Tough afternoon. Ranieri shouldn’t be judged on that but the Masina experiment didn’t work . We lost the ball a lot but they were so clinical and classy .
Can't remember who it was (Cucho?), but whoever passed the ball to Sarr from the near the goal line for the shot was deemed offside. I suppose that the ball coming back to him from a save by the keeper still means offside.
I always understood that you could only be offside if the ball was passed forward not backwards? I am not sure Cucho was offside, would have to look again, if I can bear it.
Nor was the Rose experiment, he was not at the races today and I don't know why he wasn't subbed. Feminia was ok and he got subbed.
I was there Masina should get an assist for the first goal and and a joint assist with Rose for the second goal, Hernandez gave away possession for the next two goals with one being a perfect assist by Cathcart The final goal was all Liverpools own work and nothing we could have done about it Hernandez looked out of his depth as did Dennis Pedro and Ngakia improved things when they came on Sarr was helpless as a centre forward, no service and he does not know how to attack a centre half, his only position is a wide right forward or right side midfield King must be an automatic start when fit with Pedro and Sarr on the right
Yes - the subs made some impact which I suppose is something but no doubt they'll start the next game which will as hard away to Everton and not be so good. Sarr was never going to get match out of 2 very good defenders being played out of position. Liverpool were allowed to control the midfield and gain momentum too easily putting pressure on a weak defence.
The fouls stats say it all We conceded 4 Liverpool conceded 10 You would have expected it to be the other way round Whenever they had possession in the middle third we stood off, when we had possession Liverpool doubled up on our player and won possession
Wasn't really the sort of game to try it either. Van Dijk and co dominate most natural strikers - let alone ones who haven't never played there and main ability is to run and dribble past people. Not act as some sort of focal point for any long balls. Bit like Masina in defence - hardly played then put up against the best player in the league potentially. Ranieri cannot be blamed for the result as such but the Pozzs will probably ask questions of his team selections.
Was at the match, Feminia was suffering a knock on his side and asked to be subbed - Ngakia did well ....
Well Sarr's shot did go forward - and Cucho was ahead of him near the goal line, with only the keeper ahead of him. I'm sure the keeper touched it onto the post and it then bounced out to Cucho. At least that's how I saw it it - and I thought, the keeper having touched it, he would be onside. I'm sure that once upon a time he would have been, but the rule has probably changed.
This guy obviously doesn't understand celebrating a goal in the wrong end generally isnt allowed! https://talksport.com/football/9634...carage-road-watford-liverpool-stewards-video/
If he was going to play Masina as left midfield with the idea to help Rose out, that was wrong. If they had Masina at left back and Rose as a wing-back it might have worked. Trouble is Rose is still not fit. First game of the season Dennis impressed from centre forward and showed potential with Sarr yet today we play Sarr mostly at CF. Is this because Ranieri has yet to get across his favourite formation?
Well certainly Sarr would have hardly trained with Ranieri. Basically both Rose and Masina has bad games which meant any potential re jig of formation couldn’t work . They were just overpowered by Salah .
Ben Foster seems to be the boo boy tonight. Always seem to be the older British players blamed the most.
