Four games into the season and we are still unbeaten for the first time ever in the Premier League. It is probably better to think about how this season is going rather than remember our visitors last trip to Hertfordshire. Once again we have worries about who will be fit enough to play in our defence. This is not a problem we would have wanted against a team that has scored nine goals in their last two games. In our attack there does not seem to be a favourite to lead the line. Although some places seem to have been claimed there are others still fighting to win the nod. Can Marco Silva continue to shuffle the pack and keep this good start to the season going? It has to be the stiffest test yet. The 38-year-old ref was the man in the middle for Watford’s season opener, which saw them draw 3-3 in a pulsating clash with Liverpool last month. On that occasion he brandished three yellow cards and has shown a total of 15 bookings in four outings this season. WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE WORLD - ENJOY THE GAME
Thanks OFH. Can I make one small addition to the preview? The small matter of a win takes us top for 24 hours...
Watford's defensive injury concerns are set to continue after head coach Marco Silva confirmed Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Prodl will miss Saturday's meeting with Manchester City. Kaboul pulled up with a hamstring injury against Southampton last week, while Prodl has been suffering with an injury since the international break.
It strikes me as a game where 'you score 4 we'll score 5' is as good a plan as any other. So 0-0 is likely! If we have a lot of luck, then we'll Only let in 2. However the City defence is certainly capable of letting in 2. And maybe more. I think walkers overrated defensive abilities might get exposed by our new winderkid. Oh also, how about a song for Curillo based on 'Maria' in West Side Story. ' Curillo, Curillo, we've got a boy named Curillo. And what a player he can be.' Etc or something.
From The Guardian: Can Watford go top of the league? Manchester City encountered scant resistance when they travelled to Vicarage Road needing a win to qualify for the Champions League on the final day last season. With the departure of Walter Mazzarri already announced, Watford’s minds were elsewhere and a potentially awkward assignment for Pep Guardiola’s inconsistent side turned into a stroll. The home fans seethed as the visitors raced into a 4-0 lead by the interval. It finished 5-0. It could have been 10. Anyone watching that game might have feared for Watford this season. Losing seven of their final eight matches wasn’t particularly encouraging either. But of course they were letting Mazzarri go, offering them a chance to start afresh, as long as they picked the right replacement for the Italian. There was every reason to suspect that they would, as the Pozzo family have mostly made correct decisions and swiftly rectified errors since buying Watford five years ago. They got their man. Marco Silva might have gone down with Hull City, but he played a bad hand as well as he could, and Watford have quickly warmed to his leadership. Having bought astutely, bringing in players from home and abroad, they have been solid and organised, keeping three clean sheets in their first four matches while making sure to carry a threat up front. They are fourth, two points behind City, and will go top for at least 24 hours if they stun Guardiola’s side on Saturday afternoon. City have scored nine goals without reply in their past two matches, but they should not expect to receive such a hospitable welcome at Vicarage Road this time. They could be punished if their focus dips.
It's the performance that matters today. A lay down and die attitude like last season would indeed be unacceptable. Every team wins games that they don't deserve to, that's football. By 5:00pm we'll have a better idea if we're as good as we like to think we are. The result itself is secondary.
I see we are the RDio 5 live commentary match. Does that affect streaming prospects? What is the best route for watching it streamed in France- my local bar has a Pc connection to a large screen ? Is it getting more difficult these days? Thanks
We find it more difficult to get but a better stream quality when we get it. Perhaps leeched by fewer?
I find that usually I can get a good stream from one of the links on http://www.sportp2p.com/football/626346/watford-manchester-city-free-live-streaming-online-p2p.html. Sometimes I find something on http://cricfree.sc/football-live-stream. Both of them are advertizing that our game will be shown. Mex often gives a USA site that he uses, but if I go to have a look my anti-virus goes into overdrive and shuts it down.
