Sacked their manager i see. (Although Watford do seem to change managers more often than i change my bedsheets.)
Apparently leaving Deeney out due to his attitude was what did for him. Player power at work. Whoever gets the job next there would be wise to rent, not buy.
Deeney’s power over that club is ridiculous. Given they were actually doing OK under Ivic, ignoring the last result, let’s hope this pulls the rug from under them. I think automatic promotion is between us, Bournemouth, Watford and Brentford. This could knock Watford out of the running. Seems harsh on Swansea, I know, but that’s just my feeling.
Will they be hoping for new manager bounce when we visit? Assuming they can find anyone willing to accept the poison chalice.
Agree with your choices Rob, but I'd include Swansea as well and would even put their chances above Brentford.
I also think Swansea will be in the mix and think they were one of better teams we played so far this season. I also would not be surprised to see Watford dropping out of contention.
Well, they found a manager - Xisco Munoz. Of course after a spell of 5 managers in a year, and having just sacked a manager for the temerity of not being in the automatic promotion spots, Watford have gone for a safe pair of hands to guide them back to the Premier League over the next 6 months. Oh no wait, that's exactly what they haven't done. Xisco's last (only) managerial role was at Georgian side Dinamo Tbilisi, where he was manager for a whole 11 games. No experience of English football, and I can't see Watford giving him the time to adjust. I know Daniel Farke was plucked from relative obscurity, but he had two promotions on his CV with Lippstadt, and worked at Dortmund's renowned academy. He came into a club ready to be moulded to a fresh identity and was given time to achieve that. I cannot see Xisco getting that time.
That sounds like a left-field choice. Do they have a Sporting Director model or will the new guy be doing everything?
They do have a sporting director (Cristiano Giaretta), although he's only been in the job since August, with the previous Sporting Director lasting less than a year. It sounds like he's more of an agent/recruitment person. Just read that Xisco may not have the coaching license required to coach a Premier League team, how quickly can that be rushed through if necessary?
