Mark Hughes has vowed to name a strong starting line-up for tonight’s Carabao Cup third round tie with City at Ashton Gate. Premier League clubs regularly shuffle their pack for the cup competition, but Hughes has labelled the tournament a “priority” for the Potters. Stoke made eight changes to their line-up when they thrashed Rochdale 4-0 in the last round, one less than City when they caused a cup shock by winning 3-2 at Watford. Glen Johnson, Kurt Zouma, Charlie Adam and Peter Crouch are all expected to be involved, with the Stoke promising to bring his entire squad to BS3. “There are a couple of players we feel we need to give a game, but we will still go strong,' Hughes said on stokecityfc.com. “It is important that we progress in the competition, so we want to have a good run in it this season if we can. “Zouma can't play on Saturday against Chelsea so he will be involved and we will go there with a team strong enough to give it a really good go.” Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron are both expected to miss out through injury. Tickets for the game remain on general sale, with prices starting at just £13 for adults and £6 for under-19s. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/we-ll-go-strong-at-city-hughes/
I think Sparky means business tonight, it will be tough. 'Glen Johnson, Kurt Zouma, Charlie Adam and Peter Crouch are all expected to be involved, with the Stoke promising to bring his entire squad to BS'
MATCH FACTS These two sides have met only once in the League Cup, with Bristol City winning 1-0 in the second round in August 1977. Last season, the Robins reached the League Cup fourth round for the first time since 1988-89, but they have never reached that stage in successive campaigns. Bristol City have already taken a Premier League scalp this season, coming from behind to beat Watford 3-2 in round two. They have never eliminated two top-flight teams in one campaign. Stoke have reached the fourth round in seven of the past nine seasons, although they were knocked out at this stage last season by a 2-1 defeat by Hull.
Definitely tough, but I'm fascinated to see how our squad measures up. If we get tonked then it'll bring us down to Earth (though nothing really lost), but if we give them a good game or even win with a changed (reticent to say '2nd string') side, it suggests we do have something about us. Looking forward to it!

@invermeremike carry on saying you don't rate Fammy please? Since you've gone on about him he's scored 3 in 3 now
Phsychological warfare ROD and it look like it worked. If you remember I said he hasn't come good yet, so now let's hope that has given him the confidence that I though he lacked and he has seen the light. Have we proved something tonight by handling a Premier team with panache and commitment?

You do realise that the Europe in 5 years is getting closer, scary thought eh? It won't happen though so don't worry
