Weekend here again and this past week has been a lot slower on the transfer front. Offers for Raphinha and Phillips from multiple clubs can only mean when not if.

Minamino is obviously a lad who lacks ambition and decided he couldn't cut it in the prem, so went to the south of France for some sun, sand and tax free living. Only £15m and the Leeds fans would have welcomed him, but …..

Phil Hay saying Leeds are after Tyler Adams but wont move for him until the Phillips issue is resolved. However Im hoping transfer activity for a striker doesn't depend on Phillips

This is my favourite headline, spat my red wine all over the monitor but there does seem to be a move to sign a marquee player as replacement for Raphinha. We are talking about smashing the transfer record by a good amount. Charles De Ketelaere And Cody Gakpo are both £35m-£40m. Erikson is a free but has significant wages. Some Leeds fans believe we have no intention of spending big to get a top top player, I disagree “Leeds now interested in signing Christian Eriksen - journalist” <laugh>

We should start to see some of the academy outgoings any time now. Good luck to Elia Caprile at Bari, a very unlucky guy really as he was the best U23 regular keeper for a while. Always remember him rollocking Cooper. Yes a man not frightened of reputations. Goodbye to Ryan Edmondson who was brilliant for the 23s but has had an underwhelming couple of seasons out on loan. Terrible, but good luck Ryan at Carlisle and that means 10 players have now gone so far with lots more to come yet.

Do Football Clubs Pay Tax on Transfer Fees?

All domestic football transfers do indeed add on the standard 20% VAT, but for transfers between countries, this does not apply. So, for example, if Liverpool were to buy a player from Southampton, they would have to pay a 20% VAT charge on top of the transfer fee. However, this wouldn’t be required if they bought the player from Germany. Perhaps, then, this goes some way to explaining why so many Premier League clubs do the bulk of their shopping abroad, and also why Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs is so frequently owed payments by them.
So in reality its always cheaper to buy overseas players and yes I know VAT can be claimed back but a pain in the ass and takes time and a lot of administration. Spanish players love it here because high earning players in Spain pay the equivalent of 50% but here its 45% and some players who have image rights only pay 19% corporation tax

Around 30 players so far will be involved in pre-season, unless some leave before hand. Some whittling to do Jesse because not included Costa and Kiko and Poveda in this lot yet

Junior Firpo, Robin Koch, Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo, Pascal Struijk, Jack Harrison, Lewis Bate, Joe Gelhardt, Stuart McKinstry, Sam Greenwood, Jamie Shackleton and Marc Roca are some of the names who have not had international matches this summer.

Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are recovering from their injuries, while Adam Forshaw and Crysencio Summerville should be fit to train, though it’s unclear where they are at in their recoveries after season-ending injuries a few months ago

Illan Meslier, Liam Cooper, Raphinha, Kristoffer Klaesson, Diego Llorente, Daniel James, Kalvin Phillips, Leo Hjelde, Charlie Cresswell, Mateusz Klich, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen all played international games at some level after the domestic term finished.

I think many of us expected us to get rid of some significant first team players, but early days and not many rumours. Indeed it seems Firpo is high on Marsch’s plans and players like Koch seem very happy. Rodrigo has been silent, but you would think there would have been more stories about some being moved on by now, but only Raphinha and Phillips?

One to watch is Liam McCarron who is now 21yo. Orta bought him from Carlisle Utd where he had already played 16 league games. We gave him a 3yr contract and actually extended it last September. So he has a contract now until next summer? He is a winger but has played as a LB all last season and he is the oldest player in the academy now. Is he seen as a LB back up for Firpo, is he going to be sold, will Leif Davies be back up to Firpo? Left back for us is an issue but silence from the club and media……. Something is bound to happen

Now turns out that Leeds will owe Renne millions if we sell Raphinha due to bonus payments and sell on % and will also make it harder to sell him because his bonuses to Rennes go with the player and obviously whoever buys him has to accept them. Nothing ever easy in football as the wole world revolves around simple business practices untilit gets to football where everything is titsup

Fabrizio Romano on a podcast with a top agent, which tends to show the callibre of player we are going after if we sell Raphinha or Phillips….

“I want to say one name, Charles De Ketelaere, this talent from Brugge, huge talent. Now, Leeds have his name on the list as one of the potential players to join in case Raphinha leaves – remember the name.

“Cody Gakpo is another name on the list, but not a top priority.”

Echegaray, the host of the podcast, reacted to the news and was excited by movements at Elland Road.

“Jesse Marsch making some moves with Andrea Radirzzani.”

If its £42m all up front its brilliant, but if its a staged payment, you are 100% correct, but wonder how the add ons are structured and what they are?

**** me, just when I thought we were turning a corner we sell a midfielder and bid for yet another winger.

    It's ridiculous.

They won't be structured in our favour you can be assured of that, citeh are very good at transfers and more often than not we ain't..... current England international that should be going for at least 20 million more

Ornstein says £42m and the bonuses are £3m so a total of £45m for Phillips which is crap really unless the £42m is up front. The Gyabi kid is a separate deal and £5m is by far the most we have paid for a kid.

Phil Hay saying Leeds now going big on a replacement

I’ve no problem with the price. Of more concern for me is that the money isn’t wasted.

Ornstein has revised his statement because BBC have copied it. He now says bonuses take the total fee to £50m :emoticon-0148-yes:
