evening js ,waddock chose to bring those players in and must carry the can for that,on the other hand he must be given credit on bringing marchello trotta in on loan but overall the signings of halls tunny harding etc are an absolute joke, benyon well what can i say about him a sunday league player at best.there is no fight no heart no commitment in the team at all and that is down to waddock and the players he brought in.the one shining light this season has been beever and taylor signed him.clearly he has made some bad mistakes on signing players he only has a plan a and his substitutions have mostly been ridiculous.as i have said before brownie and rhino would at least give us passion in our team and keith scott would do the same and how can anyone say they wouldnt do a better job no one could say that they would or wouldnt but i would be prepared to watch a team managed by them that would give 100 percent every game than watch our current lot capitulate after the first goal goes in .i am not calling for his head after the sheff utd game i am saying do it now.<ok>

Interesting comments and js is right to an extent the objective of the season was to ensure that our league 1 status is preserved and yes the home performances are encouraging and loan signings of late have improved the team from the mistakes that he already had made.

Now he may well have his hands tied to an extent regards budgets restricting the pool of players available but many other clubs operate under similar constraints and yet can still manage to be effective and organised at the back yet we don't and that is waddocks fault.

The lack of tactical change in a match when things are clearly not going right is waddock's fault

The lack of fight and commitment most notably in away matches is waddocks fault

These reasons have been here for a long time last season as well and yet continuosuly waddock doesn't work on them to at least improve the situation and that is why he has to go.

As for no one wanting to touch us thats complete lunacy as well. There are many many ex players/experienced managers all vying to get back into the game. I don't see anyone seeing the lack of a budget being a stumbling block if they really do want a chance as there are many teams with a far worse budget. But its all hitherto really he isn't going to go and hayes isn't going to sack him.

There will be more hammerings along the way and there will be more encouraging performances at home to come but will the objective be met? heart says we're still fighting but heads says no the defence is just far too fragile.

People were expecting survival and maybe a mid-table finish. We struggled admittedly when Waddock first came in because PT unfairly wasn't given a budget until very late on and ended up signing players from a pool where the best had already been taken. Waddock has had his chance to add to the squad on a few occasions and without this pressure.
Hi signings on the whole have been limited:
    Harding - poor
    Rowlands - so injury prone
Hinchelwood - good, but again so injury prone
Grant - another hit and miss player
    Foster - average
    Rendell - a £100k plus flop
    Benyon - rubbish
    Strevens - average
    tunnicliffe - not good enough
    Straker - poor
    Murtagh - poor
Halls - poor & injury prone

Yes, we have got a couple of good loan signings in, but if I was Hayes (like him or loathe him) I would be seriously worried about investing in Waddock's recommendations

js i dont want to argue mate but the lack of fight in the team has been there most of the season ,we must be watching different games, the huddersfield game 3 nil down and getting run ragged and waddock leaves it until into the second half to make changes ,does that sound like someone who knows what he is doing, everyone knew when they saw the team sheet that we would get slaughtered apart from waddock its not rocket science to pick a midfield that will tackle and track back.as for saying that no manager would want to take over i beg to differ.why does a manager have to have experience to be good <doh>.if you think we have improved under waddock can you answer one question for me, no organisation in defence and a midfield where the wingers are too lazy to track back which inevitably puts pressure on our defence week in week out and yet he still persists in the same formation and mostly the same players and doesnt know how to change it.the season he joined us the last ten games or so were a joy to watch full of passion fight and a never say die attitude ,where has all that gone this season.

Ok so there have been some successful signings, but the poor outweighs the bad. If a premiership manager had signed so many flops the fans would have been calling for his head months ago. If anything, lower league clubs can't afford to be so wasteful. Then we have to look at Waddocks management of some of these so called good signings. Betsy - pushed out
Donnelly - mystery illnesses when we desperately needed him
Davies - a handful of good games, followed by a lot of showboating and a disastrous second spell
McCOy - so good he struggles to get a first team start
Winfield - being slated by the fans for terrible performances three or four games ago

I guess we could argue and counter argue all night. Credit were credit is due for some signings like Ainsworth, Bull, perhaps Lewis and a couple of good loan signings. Problem is the squad is now weak and we are reliant on the success of loan signings to give us any chance of staying up. It may be sensible to stick with WAddock until the end of the season, come what may. I am still of the opinion that he should have gone pre Xmas

we got promoted last season by stumbling over the line and were helped by a goal that never was against the shrews, the flaws in the team were not rectified by waddock pre season and that is a major factor in why we have struggled this season.if waddock had done his homework we wouldnt be relying on loan signings to turn our season around and that is a fact js and you cant deny that.journeymen that are on loan and only here for a couple of months is not a way to build a settled side.we need players that are proud to play for the wanderers and not just ones that are using us as a stepping stone for their careers.

I guess the hope is that a new manager might get more out of the squad than Waddock is currently getting. There have been some performances that have been so inept, you would have thought he'd lost the dressing room. Then again we have come back with a couple of half decent results. Guess what concerns me is that the team often comes out first half lacking confidence and therefore I worry about Waddocks motivational tactics. Rochdale were a prime example of a team on the ropes and we let them have far too, much of the game in the first half and at times looked the poorer side. It took the persistence of beaver to push past the last defender and score to give us the confidence to go on and win. Like I said, I'm not convinced we should change at his late stage, but I think Waddocks signings have left us with a lightweight squad, lacking in quality (with one or two exceptions). We should at least have a reliable core and then top up with loan players, not rely on them to save our season

Excellent post. 'Nicey Nicey' football as you put it simply wont keep us up. Part of watching football at this level is accepting that we are not an out and out passing flair football team. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate good football but I simply cant get my head round the fact that some on here are using the 'dross football' reason to keep putting forward for putting forward the notion for changing the management now. It would be a guaranteed disaster.

I truly hope Waddock proves a lot of people wrong. Its so sad seeing what seems to be the status quo that is modern football 'support' these days. A couple of months of your team struggling and a you turn on your own manager. There were many on here who attacked Steve Hayes for trying to turn Wycombe into a franchise. Rightly so. But id suggest that some of the fickle 'support' displayed on here is just as potentially threatening to our clubs future as anything Hayes suggested. Lets not jump on the bandwagon, its a crap place to be.

What do people honestly expect of Wycombe Wanderers FC??! We were never going to finish in the top half of LG1 this season and anyone who thinks differently is living a dream land.

evening devon,i am not turning my back on wwfc or waddock ,merely stating my point of view,no one can deny waddock has not rectified the faults in the team and that is his job to identify our strengths and weaknesses and to adress them as he sees it.i am not one to shout or sing at games waddock out ,thats not my style and nor is it fair or helpful to the team,i will still give my all on the terrace to back the team .i never expected us to be miles up the league at this time of the season but i did expect an organised team who would battle and give their all but that has been sadly lacking so far,i honestly hope waddock turns it around and keeps us up but i cant see it but thats my honest opinion <ok>

js you have got me wrong mate ,i wasnt saying that one game against the shrews got us up it was merely one of the factors,we all knew in our promotion season that the defence needed working on for this season and waddock has failed to strengthen it which our goals against stats prove

Hi Rocky - I completely respect your opinion mate. I dont get to many games nowadays living in Devon and all so I try to be careful in commenting too much on team performance. What staggers me though, is that so many supporters on here in May 2011 were proclaiming Waddock to be the best thing since MON. Now, after some bad signings, a few poor performances and ensuing relegation scrap and he's suddenly got to go.
