Ok he’s been with us a while. He’s playing in a defence minded team. But...... What is miggy? I can’t decide if he is just raw pace and that’s it. Or he has talent that is untapped. His recent performances have been crap. He loses the ball in bad places. His passing is bad. His positional sense is poor. I can’t even decide what position he is best at? So what is Miggy?
He's best played as an inside left imo, but we played him as an inside right, now we play him as utility.
Its an issue of selection, hes only shown glimpses of his potential when working on that left side, but Max plays there now and has made it his own, dropping Max is political suicide for Bruce so he cant. Now Miggy is out of form and dropped because of that instead.
Miggy is just another fairly poor buy. Rafa made a lot of them, always has. He was brought in to do that counter attacking job, presumably as a no.10, to get the ball 30 yards from our goal and carry it 50 yards up field. Sadly, he's just not good enough. His head is down too often, his awareness is poor and his passing range isn't great either. I don't blame Bruce, he started quite poorly when he first came. The US league is probably worse than places like Belgium and Austria, we massively overpaid. I notice nobody queuing up to buy Martinez, who looks a far better player. Our scouting system is just typical Ashley - cheap and pointless. What all clubs do is work to a masterplan of an identity of what they want to be. I'm ok with NUFC being on a budget, if that budget means we're relentlessly scouring for talent home and abroad, investing whatever we can in the academy and unearthing gems a la Leicester & So'ton. We don't bother with that. We look at the "pound for pound" value, allow a ****ing mug like Charnley to say what we'll pay and if the player is available we'll buy them. It works far too infrequently (Wilson) with us instead feeding off scraps (Hendrick, Fraser, Lewis) that other teams just don;t want. Worse than that, we're bringing in players purely on valuation, not on contribution, so end up with a bunch of bang average central midfielders, none of whom fit into a style.
Good player in a mess of a side... He does fine internationally and he'll do fine at wherever he's going on January...
I actually like him. He can be a bit headless chickenish at times but he creates chances through his speed on the counter attack and he works back well.
Creates chances? The stats must have missed them. He has electric straight line pace and a nice smile. Other than that he is pretty much woeful. I get the hope that he comes good, the same as JoeLinton, but neither should be anywhere near the first eleven if we are ever going to see more attractive successful football.
He does need to go though because he doesn’t offer us anything. He’s cheap in possession and creates/scores too infrequently. Joe actually looks better. I’d love us to stick with a 532 and give Joe time up front with one of our only real PL players.
