expectation from last season and the fact that mane and him try and do it all by themselves.

hopefully sooner rather than later will be fixed, but he needs resting as we are not even at the business end of the season yet and maybe too late by then.

I said a few times last season, that he was slotting chances like he was playing in a 5 a side game and not in front of 40k fans in big games. His confidence was off the scale and he looked like he just couldn’t miss most weeks.

This season he’s still getting into the same positions but he’s now finishing like a ‘normal’ player, whether he’s feeling the pressure or his confidence is just a bit dented who knows.

Last season, a couple of those chances he had yesterday were going into the back of the net.

We’ll see what he’s truly made of over the next weeks / months, he’ll either rediscover his form and confidence or he won’t.

Said last season. I expect him to get around the 20 goal mark like Mané and Firmino. He won't replicate the record premier league goals. His stats are very similar to this stage last season

Nothing is wrong with Salah. It is just the expectation people have of him after his breakout season.
He is still getting in the same positions but just a bit off with his finishing. We have had a great start and whilst we depended on his goals last season, we are now structured differently where the burden is off his back.
His goals will come we just have to be patient and hope the "easier" run of fixtures will allow him to rack up some well needed goals

Give him time. He started off last season in a similar fashion - the approach work was good but the finishing wayward.
I'm sure he's feeling the pressure of expectations after such a fantastic season last time, but he'd only bagged one more by the same stage last year.

which he could easily have equaled yesterday if not for i think it was rudiger on goal line clearing it.

This is going to sound ultra critical (because it is)...

Last year he doesn't try to just put the ball in the net from that angle. He turns, takes his time before slotting home or seeing a teammate up.

i know where you are coming from, but he went round keeper and did what most would have done in same situation, not really his fault that rudiger actually is a decent defender and anticipated it like most wouldn't have and given up.

I thought he did the right thing, no complaints from me. Just pointing out that he was going that extra step last year which is what made him stand out.

I thought he was right off it in the first few games but actually seems to have re found his game in the last couple - now just need to remember where he left his boots .

last year imo after rounding keeper had have from there turned round and slotted it.

it was a good effort but only if it was empty net as it was on target...

you might like to check last years matchday threads up to this point because as i remember it the general opinion was he needed 3 chances to score 1.
Fail to see how he would have stopped turned & then slotted it past GK & Rudiger from that angle and that is assuming no other defenders intervened.
Personally think he did as well as he could and the real criticism should be for the 2 chances from the edge of the box which turned into a backpass and a balloned shot miles high & wide.

that is fair. he had a lot of chances but look at the shots he took yesterday. they were pathetic.

imo though the angle he'd left was very tight and it was on wrong foot but he did have it on target.

from that close he can do anything he is that good though....

I would add, Firmino hasn't clicked with him either yet and that was the biggest assist/goal combination we had I'm sure. Passes aren't sticking to him and his 1-2-1s aren't coming off. Just needs time to get their rhythm I feel.

He will come good eventually. It’s amazing how regularly strikers go through these patches. They don’t score for 3-4 matches it’s a huge crisis.

As long as the team wins that’s the most important thing.

3 league goals after 7 games. Not as good as we'd hoped, but it's hardly a disaster is it?

when we have 2 top 4 rivals.in the 7... no suppose not.

he needs to get the head down when we play the shorty teams and make a few hat tricks.
