So we pretty much are down then . Who will be next ? Which players will come and go ? All questions up in the air and do people trust the owners etc to get it right and give a new manager time .
I think you have to trust the owners - they have publicly recognised that they have to change their model. If they don't, fans may well leave in droves. As to players - I've no idea who's coming, but suspect most of yesterday's bench will be going, along with Sarr, Dennis, Sissoko, Cathcart and possibly Cucho. I really hope we can hang on to Louza and Samir, but have my doubts.
I think I'll make a rash prediction on our next manager - Davide Nicola. He seems to have worked wonders at Salernitana - three wins on the trot and currently leading 1-0 at Atalanta, he has amazingly pulled them out of the Serie A relegation zone. And he worked for the Pozzos at Udinese not long ago.
And if the WFC forums and Twittter are anything to go by will start creating divisions between them. I've seen comments that you'd expect to see fans call Luton ones - not one of their own. Ever seem that Supporters Committee there has been a divide between those selected and those who felt left out. Or rather those who think the Pozzos and Duxbury need removing and are nothing but trouble and those still backing them because of what they have done in the past. Mind you we probably aren't the only club like that.
There was a rumour that Duxbury was going after the end of the season I dont think the problem is just Duxbury or our owners, the main problem appears to be the Head of Recruitment who is responsible for the players we have now If the Pozzos jumped ship who would buy us, we would not want the likes of the people who bought Cardiff and Hull Would we really want Middle Eastern buyers? I think not The best short term solution would be for the owners to face the fans, admit where they went wrong and promise to rebuild the team as they did in their first season and accept it might take two or three years to get us back to where we were in 2015, everyone was happy then
Yes I agree the issues have been recruiting players . Whereas in 2015 we did well in the transfer market . The club sign so many players though that some will be failures but now at a more expensive cost . And they did give managers time - Zola lasted 18 months and quit rather than was sacked. Same for Sainnio who stayed on after a poor 13/14. And I am sure Jokanavic would have stayed had he agreed a new deal. But now we really have got into a sacking culture which means the players feel no responsibility I suspect or think it’s not up to them to get the best out of themselves. I suspect that is why we have had 2 managers in their 70s - no one else wanted the job and certainly Hodgson seemed like a credible appointment at the time . Ofcourse any new owner could go either way as you say but we won’t be attractive enough to billionaires I feel. That is the conundrum really.
What we are missing is a Deeney (midfield or defence) who is totally committed to the club and drive the team forward and is the link between players and managers Would Deeney make a good coach/manager if he had an experienced ex manager to guide him
While I don't think we missed him on the pitch at all this season, I do think we missed him in the dressing room. I don't see a spine to this team. I know we're not entirely a team of mercenaries, as people like Cathcart, Foster, Kabasele etc. have been around for many years, but they aren't leaders. Even in promotion, sometimes we still felt like less than the sum of our parts, and I think that's because there aren't the big characters binding the squad together to make it a team.
Get Dyche in, he'll sort out what is left (after those who want to jump a sinking ship do just that,) he knows the Champ and can rebuild. FULL CIRCLE (Circus alsmost!)
Probably end up being none of those! More importantly will they want to work with the Pozzo way or demand a change ? Cannot see the Ipswich manager upping sticks having just gone there tbh knowing our record with managers . Someone told Roy he isn’t staying btw ?!
Woy was only till tye end of the season contract wise. I think. He siad hell retire at sellhurst park this sat.....
Yes it was but Lewington suggested at the weekend they hadn’t discussed their future . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ton-roy-hodgson-will-see-through-watford-job/
According to this, Zinckernagel is unsure yet where his future lies. Should we keep him or sell him to Forest if they are interested? Watching last night's Muff/Forest game he looked to me to lack pace - something I remember noticing during his six months with us. https://insidefutbol.com/2022/05/03...ngham-forest-star-unsure-about-future/557941/
A mix of opinions in the responses, as you would expect I suppose. I'm in the Yes camp - with the proviso of using him more sparingly. He's probably still good for an hour so per game.
Seems to be a marmite player. Can be useful at times but as you say doesn’t seem able to last games . Least he’d probably like the competitive physical nature of the Championship.
Yes we will need him and Dan Gosling and Tom Cleverly I am not sure if Imran Louza would survive the kind of tackles he will receive in the Championship, I hope he can
