Been watching the Sunderland Netflix series. Didn't reliese Tony Coton and Richard Hill worked there. Goodness knows what someome like GT would have made of the going ons at that club.
A former great hope as kid now teaching PE. https://www.betvictoristhmian.co.uk/football-and-me-the-ogo-obi-story-61767
I wonder how he managed that? "I had to go and get a job and now work as a PE Teacher" - that's a four year full time course!!
A League yes Mark Yates no He's a bit of a wanderer - his current club is his 13th, and 10th since leaving us - without having made a first team appearance.
Well could be a lot of those over the last decade or so! We did have an Aussie called Griffiths who came in the Boothroyd promotion season. I remember another player said they took the mick out of him when England beat Australia in the 2005 Ashes.
Adam Griffiths - when he signed for us I bought my son a replica shirt with his name on it, he never made an appearance then buggered off to Bournemouth. I think he has played for 18 clubs - is still playing actually, player-manager of a club in Sydney. He had a rather pleasant looking wife too - actress Lily Brown. Mystery man signed for us from Carlisle, had a couple of short spells in Scotland and was reasonably successful at both Accrington Stanley and Blackpool.
I think he did too. Found his level now though - A-League is probably similar to the lower reaches of League 1.
Alessandro Diamanti is now playing for Western Utd in the A League. Didn't like him much when he played for us and still shows the same arrogance now, most of the time without justification.
Couldn't think which other thread to put this in, so this one is as good as any - given that everyone in it is now in the ex-Hornet category. In 1983 I made this rather hasty VHS recording of a segment of Australian TV's 60 Minutes show - on Watford's tour of China. About 15 years ago I had it burnt onto a DVD - but for the life of me could never get YouTube to accept it for copyright reasons. It seems that now I've managed to get over that hurdle (fingers crossed) and here it is. Apologies for the scratchy start but even then technology was a challenge for me - also apologise for the two short clips at the end, one was a favourite song of mine back then, but the last one is a favourite (for obvious reasons) goal of mine and I haven't a clue how to edit the song out. A pleasant way to spend 25 minutes of lockdown...

I did have one on Firefox when I used that, but have tried to reduce the amount of stuff on the laptop.
