I am listing all the football teams in our league with their managers,I am trying to find what position Millie would be in the league of managers based on experience, man management, tactics, leadership, activity, strentgh and pure enthusiasm..

    Compare and decide,with honesty...

    Birmingham...---------------------
    Blackpool...Ian Holloway..
    Brighton...Gus Poyet..
    Burnley...Eddie Howe..
    Cardiff...Malky Mackay..
    Coventry...Andy Thorne..
    Crystal Palace...Dougie Freeman..
    Derby...Nigel Clough..
    Doncaster...Sean O'Driscoll..
    Hull...Nigel Pearson..
    Ipswich...Paul Jewell..
    Leicester...SGE..
    Leeds...Simon Grayson..
    Milwall...Kenny Jackett..
    M/Boro...Tony Mowbray..
    N/Forest...Steve McClaren..
    P/Boro...Darren Fergeson..
    Portsmouth...Steve Cotterell..
    Reading...Briam McDermott..
    Southampton...Nigel Adkins..
    Watford---------------------
    WHU...Sam Allardyce..

Based on all things mentioned where does Millen stand,I've not listed a league of managers but I think Millen rates 19th...

What's your position for him,no emotion just basic honesty.

    It's a worry.....

I'm prepared to be flayed for this but I like having Millen as Manager. In a quiet way he's demonstrated he's City through and through and whilst I accept that this isn't enough on it's own I reckon he'll get better as a Manager. He was overlooked when we went for Coppell and never spat his dummy, then cleared up the mess iafter that went wrong. Some would say we're the only club that would have him and yes it wasn't always that good last season......but I'd have taken what he ultimately achieved when we had 6 pts after 11 games. He got a tune out of them after Johnson went the previous season too.
I reckon he's done enough for us to stick with him.

You only have to look at teams who go ripping through Managers......witness Rovers amongst others

I'm not really a Millen fan but he deserves to have a go,If we are in the bottom 3 at Christmas, sack him or we are down,I have placed him at 19th so,hopefully that decision won't be necessary..

OK fellas, I'll admit that when you look down what is quite an impressive list of Managerial names you'd have to say that Millen would be somewhere near the bottom, certainly based on the criteria given. Ultimately he'll be judged on results, I accept that. I think the point I'm trying to make is that whilst he might not be 'name' in terms of profile, for us (and maybe only us) he's not a bad fit for the job.

I'd agree Red Robin that this is a big season for him........there'll no excuses if it does go wrong.

Quite frankly, I'd rather have a man who is City through and through like Millen than many of the names on this list. There are a lot of people on that list who aren't anything special and I'd fully expect Millen after last seasons frantic season to be a far more accomplished manager than last year.

Where would you have put Coppell on that list at the start of last season, and look where that ended up!!
Millen's reputation will be made (or broken) by what he does this season. It will be his team, and he will have them for a full pre-season. Additionally, hopefully the injury situation will not be anywhere near as bad as last year.
IMO, so far he's done all right in turning things around after Coppell's departure. The appointment of Wigley was good, and he appears to have an eye for a good player. It's his first job as manager, so bound to have been the odd mistake. Get's get fully behind him!!

Gladly. In my opinion he is not a Championship standard manager and I also believe he seriously lacks the charisma and tactical ability to ever be anything more than an also ran at this level. I also don't think he can attract the sort of players needed to really take us forward.

If we get off to the same sort of awful start at home to Ipswich on the opening day like we did against Millwall last August, the knives will be out for him.
