They already announced that he would miss the game - most likely has just gone home as he won't need to come back to us until next week.
Allegedly Mahrez has been located. @JohnBennettBBC End the search: Riyad Mahrez training in Constantine yesterday. Algeria play Zambia tomorrow. #LCFC (Pic via https://t.co/ayfQMJ9zXa) https://t.co/6wXsbF58k0
They are playing Zambia twice in a row which is why I got a bit confused - he missed the first game to try and force a move to Man Utd apparently. Allegedly Mouriniho was keen but wasn't willing to meet our £50m pricetag.
My view, for what it is worth, is that his agent mislead him about the strength of possible interest, hoping to broker a late deal and needing Mahrez to be ready to fly on demand. Has ended up making Riyad look a bit of a tit ... hopefully he will react positively... starting with Chelsea
My take too, negativity influenced by his agent and made to look like an idiot. Contrast with Drinkwater who kept well and truly quiet until he and his agent must have know the bid was in and it would go ahead before coming public/transfer request
Lots of players in the same position every deadline day, hanging aroung waiting to see if a deal happens. Mahrez problem was he was due to get on a 9 hour flight and therefore no hope of going anywhere if a deal was on the table. Drinkwater would've been in the same position of limbo, the difference being he wasn't on international duty and therefore no-one knew where he was until he turned up for his medical. Hopefully Mahrez puts in a good few months for us, hoping he gets a deal in Jan.
