Following that mongo Tracey Crouch's utter dismissal of safe standing, a petition has kicked off to make it clear it is not a 'vocal minority' worth signing if only because of the term vocal minority and its similarity to silent majority https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/207040
Signed. And this should have its own thread. And those against safe standing seem to be blind to the word 'safe' in there.
Looking at the BBC story about this a lot of the comments against were from people who didn't really understand the 'safe' aspect
Indeed. And Tracey Crouch saying a 'vocal minority' want safe standing and then putting her fingers in her ears whilst the fsf and football fans prove her wrong is pure Allam.
I hope she's turned her twitter notifications off, because she's getting hammered like a good 'un on the Twitter
The FSF @The_FSF #Safestanding petition is now the fastest growing on the Government's official petition page, passing 16,000 signatures: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/207040… #VocalMinority
Signed. Fans should have the choice of seating or standing and would resolve a lot of the current conflicts and disputes.
Signed. If re-introduced this would make football stadiums safer. This is how any application should be presented and evidence provided to prove. It is safer for fans to stand in purpose built standing areas with a rail system than the current situation like in our North Stand where fans stand for the duration of the match. The current situation does not prevent fans from spilling or falling over the top of seats, it is not safe for children who may have to stand on seats to see, it may be detrimental to the elderly, infirm or disabled who find themselves forced to stand for long periods, and it can also cause conflict and trouble between fans. All this can be avoided, makes it safer, and gives fans the choice how they wish to watch.
