I think Peterborough's terrace has gone Bob; a shame really cos you could generate some real noise under that low roof.
Yeah I believe it has, but imagine trying to explain to a non football fan about looking forward to getting to stand up to watch a game of football, they'd think you're a crackhead. We're and odd lot really
It's a shame more don't get it Mr B - when we get to the cup matches I pray for another Bury or Accrington fixture, not for an easy tie but for the nostalgia trip ..... its probably cos I'm old.
Ramping things up a bit ahead of the debate on the 25th, the tide has definitely turned... BBC Sport - Safe-standing: Labour announces backing for scheme in top two tiers.
Update on the government response to the safe standing petition. Original response... The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales. The Government thanks all the football supporters who made their views known through this petition. Revised response... The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales, while continuing to work closely with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and football authorities to consider advances in technology and data that may enhance the existing policy. A debate in Parliament on this issue has been tabled for 25 June, when the nuances and complexities of sports ground safety will be covered in more detail.
I know there's procedures that have to be followed and stuff but I find it irritating how they keep trying to make it sound so much more complicated than it is. It's really patronising.
To my way of thinking, can there ever be a truly 'safe standing' scenario, lets face it supporters will still have to file out onto the stairways to get out of the ground and with the best will in the world I can't see it being done in an amicable manner every home game.
They have to file out the same way if they have been sitting. There are more standing at Dortmund behind one goal than the KC holds with a few thousand more behind the other goal and it causes no problems.
That happens in all seaters too. In fact I bet in the last 10 years more have died in all seaters watching **** games than have died because of terrace issues.
I think he was referringbto the fact that is the actual watching of Oxford United, whether standing, seated or completely horizontal that nearly kills you. A bit like City under Dolan.
No way, I'm glad you explained that. I thought my response was quite clear in that I understood exactly what he meant but thanks for the clarification.
