Wigan v Bristol City Wigan Athletic will be without Chelsea loanee defender Dujon Sterling when they take on Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday. Sterling was forced off with a hamstring injury in the Latics' FA Cup defeat by Leicester City last weekend. Bristol City will have Ashley Williams back from a one-game ban which followed his red card against Brentford. Midfielder Adam Nagy is struggling with an ankle problem despite playing in their FA Cup draw with Shrewsbury. Match facts Wigan are unbeaten in three league games against Bristol City (W1 D2) since losing both games against them in the 2016-17 season. The home side has won just three of the last 12 league meetings between Wigan and Bristol City (W3 D6 L3). Wigan's 3-2 win against Birmingham ended a 13-game wait for a league win - they last won consecutively in August 2019. this is the beginning of the end for all prospective teams with designs on top 6 the reality is there is 17 teams that can feature there is 60 pts for each team to protect, City could win the division with 98 pts! but they still need a pt a game to avoid relegation! this season 22nd could easily be on 56 or 58 pts! unbelievably City away record has given 19 pts with 20 goals scored and a deficit of -2 on pts they are joint 5th along with QPR and Hull 2018/19 5th eq WBA 21 pts +3 gd at HOME on 19pts joint 14th with Reading and Wigan [todays opponents ] and a positive 1 goal difference. 2018/19 18th on 19 pts and g d was +2 so on performances pretty close to last season just 2pts shy
Breathe a sigh of relief, bit of extra time with less pressure for LJ and the team to react, great to get 3 points well done all involved and hopefully we can get some fresh blood in to brighten up the team, I'm a happy City fan tonight, we won, the gas lost and I'm going out with my family celebrating my birthday with my head held high. Up the CITY.
I agree we need more forward options, but fair play to the lad , these last few games when everyone else around him has played awful Fam has been the one playing well week in week out , his goal and assist again today turned the game in our favour, I wish the boo boys would get off his back. His attitude throughout has been spot on .
His disallowed goal was fantastic. He will be gutted as I doubt he will hit one like that again. Here it is https://streamvi.com/watch.php?video=1578756784
Wow, what an effort, in my opinion he’s been our best player consistently this season, we all know sometimes his first touch let’s him down , others it’s first class , but ever since he scored a pen against Brazil the bad ones have been massively outnumbered by the good, he’s come on leaps and bounds this season, long may it continue.
From the stats it looked somewhat akin to watching paint dry but we'll take the 3 points and head home. Will the current transfer window give Lee the chance to bolster the squad which could help Fam become a more consistent scorer? With only 3 weeks left in the window who would be your pick to give the team a kick in the rear and boost performances?
How often over the years have we played well and lost , I’ll take the three points, deserved or not .
Happy returns for yesterday jgf2, mine is today and I'm just about to go out with my entire flock for a little family get together, looking forward to it.
