Was very nice of City to finally do what some of us have been asking them to do for weeks because we know they're capable of it. But we were ****e prior to the first goal - so there's still work to be done.

    Good stuff.

Now you need to repeat it against Doncaster.

Well as poor as Wigan are we did a job .. could and should have been more against that lot .. prior to the first goal its fair to say we were struggling but having put a few in I just hope its lifted their confidence .. towards the end it was like a training game attack v defence tbf so well done boys .. job done but let's not get carried away .. harder tests to come.

Twenty minutes each side of half time we looked the business.

First twenty five minutes we looked a team bereft of ideas.

    Last twenty five we coasted.

It's amazing what part confidence plays in it all.

    Well done City.

    They were well ****e, mind.

Well done City. You can only beat what's in front of you and we did that convincingly tonight. I thought the substitutions made sense as well, saving legs for Saturday's game at Doncaster.

i don't have my book to hand at the moment, but i recall a week when dean windass scored hattricks on consecutive saturdays with a goal in a midweek game inbetween. the first game was away at cambridge.

i think windass may have scored three in this game:

    Football League Div 2 Sa 28Aug 1993
    Cambridge U 3 - 4 Hull

also, if you could check this one - a possible andy payton treble???

    English Div 2 (old) Sa 26Aug 1989
    Bournemouth 5 - 4 Hull

We have without doubt the best 2 centre backs in the league. Both very strong but in Greaves I see a player that could get to the very top. He is so assured in everything he does, really reminds me of Hanson in his prime. Brilliant control of the ball, doesn’t seem to get flustered, even when a forward is baring down on him. If we don’t get promoted he’ll be gone....

    Learnt a few things tonight
    1. You can start on whiskey mid afternoon and stay awake for an evening kick off if you commit to it...just don’t stop drinking for a rest
    2. I’m just as ****ing pissed off at ****e ball control and poor shooting when we’re 5 goals up as when we’re one goal down,
