Match Day Thread Wigan vs Pompey

Pompey now looking to build with Naismith and Bennett but May gets caught in posession and Wigan attack, then get stopped by Whatmough who gets thrown to the ground by Powell. Pompey freekick.

 

Pompey in posession again, get it right to Evans who comes inside to Close, May plays to Naismith who comes inside and clips it into the box but it just misses Pitman.

 

Cross from the left easilly cleared by Wigan.

 

Lowe on the right takes on the Wigan player but gets block out. Wigan then try to attack with Powell who clash with Whatmough and is now down claiming injury. Game stopped.

 

Wigan Sub: Powell off for Grigg

Pompey Sub: Bennett off for Chaplin

 

Wigan on the attack but Close tackles well before Whatmough clears. Wigan still with it, cross into Grigg who's shot it saved.

Pompey attacking with Naismith, gets it to Pitman on the left who plays it back in to Naismith, Haunstrup gets the ball and crosses it to Chaplin. Goal!

Chaplins' first touch hits the net.

Wigan attacking straight away, gets the ball into the box but Pompey get it away and out for a throw.

 

Wigan freekick half-way into Pompey's half. Swings the ball towards the far posts, Burgess heads away. Wigan try to keep the pressure up, long shot blocked, Wigan retain posession but a wayward pass puts it out for a Goalkick.

Evans and Lowe linking up Evans get the ball into Pitman but he gets the ball muddled in his feet and Wigan get it away.

 

May plays the ball to Chaplin but it's cut out, Pompey still with the ball, piling on the pressure, Wigan clear, but Pompey get it back, May has a shot low towards the post and the keeper saves.

 

Lowe and Pitman link up, Pitman tries a shot but it goes high and wide.

Chaplin down the right gets the ball into the box, Wigan's keeper just gets it before Pitman.

At the other end of the pitch Grigg gets a free header which goes straight to McGee

Wiagn give the ball away, May plays it to Pitman, Pitman on half-way, May plays it wide to the left and Naismith with a deep cross but no one's there. Wigan throw.

 

Wigan play it forward but Pompey get the ball back before putting it out for a throw in for Wigan. They get it in a dangerous area but shoot wide.
