Depends what other people are doing. It's as much about the social side of things around the game as it is the football for me. If other people have stopped going and I'm the only one I'd have to think about whether I was still going to go or whether there were better things to be doing with my time. Bear in mind this summer I've also got to be thinking about work. At the moment uni is giving me the liberty of having a full-time job over the summer but being able to work casually the rest of the year. With finishing uni this year I'm not going to have that option so it's a case of going full time where I am (which would involve working some weekends out of my control) or getting another job. At the moment the football is one factor in getting a new job, if it's less appealing then I'm more inclined to stay where I am. I guess for my part of that it's the case whether the name changes or not, but the chances of other people not going and that lowering my interest is increased by a name change. I haven't really spoken to anybody about it so far because it's not an issue yet, that'll change when the renewals come out.
Pricing on the current format gives me a couple hundred quid increase due to price bands for next seasons card Should the prices increase for next season then it's obviously even more, so with other responsibilities/price hike and the name change I'm very much undecided, time will tell
I've already made clear on the sticky exactly what my thought process is with a name change. I'm not wasting my time or space on this thread getting into a debate about it. For the purposes of this thread it's enough to say that I don't intend to make a 500+ mile round trip to attend games on my own when there are more important things I could be doing.
I only get to about one game per season since I live in France & come over for Christmas - this season was Man U so no chance, in many ways it's better if City are in the Championship. In my mind they'll always be "City" what ever the owner tries to do. If my nephew wants to go, we'll go, but I'm not buying club merchandise with "Hull Tigers" on it.
I said to my mate the other week that if it gets changed, we have a decision to make. I would absolutely resent the name change going through, on the force of will of one man, and I think despite all the arguments over whether he should or can, Hull Tigers is a ****ing terrible name. It's my club, in my hometown, so the choice put in front of me would be galling. On the one hand, I'd think why should I stop going? On the other, the utter shame I would feel at following a team called Hull Tigers with all is plastic tackiness would probably rot my guts and make me incredibly bitter. So maybe it would be best to call time. It hasn't been concluded yet, so I have time to think, but if it is changed then I do have to make a decision and I know for a fact that I couldn't muster the same passion at matches for a pretend club called Hull Tigers as I could for the club that's existed in my city for 110 years called Hull City AFC. I know you all say "same club, same players, same people" but I actually think this is a majorly significant change that kills a hugely important part of the existing club, replacing it with something abhorrent. So, if it changes, me and my mate will discuss I would have thought and decide if we can stoke up any passion whatsoever for the Frankenstein club Hull Tigers.
