Undoubtedly a quality player for us when fit, just a shame how injury prone it is. Frustrating for us, but must be heartbreaking as a professional just wanting to play.
Sounds to me like he might be finished. Shame at his age but the club is doing its best to help him get through it.
Bloody hell, they must have been rough as anything flexing his knee under anaesthetic You'd have thought scans (CT, MRI and ultrasound) would have told them there was still a weakness there and he wasn't ready for it. Would be interesting to find out if he was or wasn't still under the same knee specialist.
Sounds like they were a bit heavy handed imo. Wonder if there is any sort of legal stuff going on in the background about it.
Reading that article it sounds like they were trying to move/stretch it about but obviously went too far and it snapped. Better send the small print to the legal dept imo. Hope the lad makes a good recovery, I liked him when he played and thought he was a very good defender at this level.
Seems like he's been scouting https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...ohnson-sunderland-injury-scouting-22427794?t=
I often have a pessimistic head on with someone out for so long with injury that they are never coming back properly. Hope I prove myself wrong.
Just re-reading the chronicle article. Completely forgot about Huggins!! Imagine if him and Broadhead had been available all season! Massive miss to us
I think the injuries this season have had a big impact. Huggins like you say is a major miss in the right back position. We have missed ONien and McGeady as well. Add in Broadhead and Pritchard who missed a fair bit as well and that is a lot of probable first team players to have lost. You coud add Bailey Wright in as well. There were times in the first half of the season we could barely put subs on the bench it was that bad. We did a decent job in January of resolving some of the gaps so we have more strength in depth now at least to cope.
i think a lot of our injuries over the last couple of seasons were self inflicted, long lay-offs were inevitable due to playing tired and partially fit players longer than necessary, we had decent replacements in the U23's at the time but they were overlooked. I recognise this explanation wont please everybody's agenda, but there you go. .
Not an agenda but each manager has done the same. It’s not like our u23s have been knocking things out of the park (although their coach leaves a lot to be desired). I can’t agree or disagree as I don’t watch the 23s. I just look from the outside and think, if they were good enough, surely one of the 4 managers would’ve played them?
I am not talking about this season Marcus , but last season and the one before I apologise for any confusion.
No bother. But 3 managers have done the same then. Our 23s haven’t been in a good place form wise and almost every time I watch them they look dire! Admittedly I don’t watch them much and it’s bits of games, but still don’t look good. As I say, I can’t argue as I can’t form an opinion on it.
I wont go through my opinions again about the quality we have overlooked from time to time, but our current No 1 proves a point and there are others who would in my opinion have done exactly the same given the chance. It is as you say all about opinion. Your faith in football managers is admirable but sadly I do not share it.
