    Back to lay prospect

    Hewitt 500/1

I think he'll get to the quarters and a match with Federer. With only 8 players left he might be a tenth of those odds.

I have gone quite heavy on Murray each way at 9/2 with Novak the obvious danger who he'll meet in the final if all goes well. I'll be in profit no matter the result.

That's the plan anyway. Royal Ascot profit riding on it.

Pre tournament I had a fun each way bet (£10 EW) on Kirsten Flipkens (500-1) the Number 20 seed in the Ladies singles. Her quarter of the draw is now wide open with Azarenka and Sharapova gone. I expected her to now be much shorter but I just checked and she is still a massive 300-1. It's looking a certainty for Williams now but it may be worth a punt EW on others in the other half of the draw!

Comfortable straight sets victory today. Flavia Pennetta next who is ranked 166. Three games away from a decent payout and still she is 100-1 with a couple of bookies!

Would be handy to see Kivitova get ko'd

I was listening to RadioFiveLive on the way home and one of the British girls on there was asked about the bottom half of the draw. She said "whover wins out of Kvitova & Makareva would definitely reach the final". Kvitova was 14-1 and Makareva 80-1 so I had a very small each way bet on Makareva,
Earlier she was a set down and a break down but has fought back to now be a break up in the final set when bad light stopped play.

I hope she comes out firing tomorrow, to have two runners in the bottom half at 500-1 and 80-1 would be very interesting indeed!

Bugger, she completely folded today. If only they had stayed out last night!

Logic now tells me that I simply have to back Marion Bartolli to beat Flipkens in the semi final on Thursday. If Flipkens beats her then I am guaranteed to collect a very tidy sum for my small outlay. I love taking a gamble and sticking by it but this is a bit of a no-brainer. Bartolli 4/6 Flipkens 11/8.

I wish you luck Stick... That's some pick at 500/1, even if she just makes the final, and gets hammered...<ok><laugh>

The best ive done at golf for a e/w call is a 250/1 shot about 4 years ago. Always nice to see a biggy come in, e/w or not...!!!
