HT. 0-0. Are we trying to match Man City in awful performances tonight? So many players not cutting it tonight or not playing how we expect them too. None of the combinations are working. Bueno has pocketed Saka. Martinelli has been ineffective. Jesus has been lively but still can’t score for ****. Vieira has not offered any dynamism in midfield since he’s come on for Xhaka. So many loose passes and touches leading to turnovers and them countering us. Let’s be real, Wolves have had the better chances here and they are meant to be the team low on confidence. Bog standard performance. Much, much better improvement needed in the second half.
To be fair to Wolves, they’ve set up very well and are very well-organised, most teams would find it hard to break them down. But we need to capitalise on the results today and try to win this game.
1-0! Odegaard! Lovely build-up and combination between Jesus and Vieira, and Odegaard taps it in after Vieira dinks it over the ‘keeper.
2-0! Odegaard! Great finish after some more nice build up between Zinchenko, Martinelli and Vieira. We should see this out now I hope.
Great second half performance too. Odegaard stepped up at a key moment. Thought Gabriel and White were exceptional too. Big, big result now we’ll be top of the league after Christmas, which makes a nice change.
Arteta said quite a few of the players had sickness after their pre-match meal, which may explain the drab first half performance, and why Xhaka came off after 15 minutes. Makes the result even more impressive under those circumstances, but also why Martinelli, Saka etc weren’t playing at their optimal best.
