Do you watch it? It seems to me that very few people attend the matches. The latest Super League figures say that between 300 and 1500 people attend the top level games. Can that sustain the women's game? Are loads of people watching on TV?
No. Probably true. I didn’t know that as I’ve never checked but doesn’t surprise me. No. I doubt it. It’s fashionable to promote “women’s” sport generally but I’m not convinced there is a genuine audience/market for it but have no gripe about it. If you want to watch it then watch it. If you don’t then don’t watch it.
I've got into it quite a bit recently, especially at an International Level. Seems like the domestic leagues are starting to get financial backing (e.g Barclays) which will make a huge difference. I don't think I'll ever prefer it to men's football but it's pretty enjoyable and sometimes has a nicer atmosphere.
You are not allowed to objectify women in this way. I also personally can't wait till the next time a woman makes the classic "phwoar" at the sight of a David Beckham picture. I'm gonna be incandescent.
I'm very appreciative of the female form what can I say, it's not my fault their shorts resemble a bit of dental floss with a postage stamp attached to it
It's a bit odd. Get's a good audience at international level but very little at domestic level. The international game subsidises the domestic leagues, like cricket only more so.
This has got me wondering about whether or not the terrace chants are transferable from mens footie to womens For instance, assuming that the crowds are primarily female based do they direct chants of "get yer cocks oot for the lasses" towards congregations of male fans? Heels off if ya love the Toon ....any others that you can think of?
Like lower league football I have no interest in women’s football as the standard is ****. It’s a shame the media give so much coverage to it just to be political correct. There are much better supported sports in the UK which get no coverage at all. It’s basically positive discrimination and wrong.
So much coverage ? Most days bbc and sky have no stories. On days when they happen to have two stories, the moaning reaches warp levels.
I've seen a few matches in the last year ( on TV). Observations: Keepers are terrible. Even at international level. Tackling is MUCH better to watch than in the men's game. They go for it and the ref plays on. Next time someone complains about a male footballer rolling about 'like a girl' they should be told to watch women's football as they don't do that. Almost no diving. They try to just get on with it. Atmosphere at the matches is better.
Atmosphere? Their attendances make the Mackems **** hole look like the Nou Camp I've seen more life in Trev's social diary.
