Thoughts? Thought he looked below the level required from the first game. Seems to have some good attributes, but we really need Dubravka back if we're to have any chance whatsoever of staying up imo. Darlow is pretty **** too tbh, but he goes straight in ahead of woodman who's done nothing to justify keeping his position.
Can’t think of anything he has done that I would class as a howler and think he has justified his chance after 2 solid loan years at Swansea. He is young and still learning so would stick with him until Dubravka is fit. Would look to sell Darlow if we get a chance.
The problem is he is still young in goalkeeping terms. On top of that he has had different centre back partnerships in front of him all of which have been ****. Literally no consistency. We also know that under Bruce our defence lacks leadership and communication. No wonder any keeper would look bang average. Bruce needs to find 3cbs to start and keep them there regardless so that Woodman can start to trust (lol) them
I would also point out the number of mistakes made by Dubravka that have been glossed over by fans just because he has done well in other games. Woodman hasn't had that opportunity. Dubravka came in as goalkeeper under a very organised defence. Woodman, as highlighted above, has come in with basically no defence. Yes his mistakes can be questioned but as usual the lack of support given for a younger player is there to be seen. I even saw on Twitter someone complaining about how **** Willock has become yet his stats against Manchester United were pretty good. 96% passing accuracy.
Dubravka has won nufc games more than he's lost them that's for sure. Unfortunately woodman isn't ready and I'll of course freeze him out and then loan him to Plymouth. It's unfortunate.
Can’t say I’ve been that impressed with him. We have conceded the most goals in the PL so far this season and that with us trying to play defensive in most games. I don’t blame him for that mind. But as a unit we are showing that we can’t defend. It’s a concern.
Disagree. We've conceded 132 goals in last 80. That's not the keepers overall fault. Whether that's Dubravka, Darlow or Woodman. That's the outfield players fault. Yes the keepers will make mistakes but when the opposition are having 3, 4 or more time as many shots as a team would have then the keeper will be shown to made mistakes
Liam him out and if Dubs is sold injured or dead maybe give him another chance. It's cut throat I'm afraid
It’s short-termist attitudes like that from our so called fans that lead to us never allowing young players to develop to their full potential and the loss of players like Armstrong and Toney.
Keep playing him, we're **** anyway. Dubs needs to keep himself fit for 15 minutes if he wants to play football. Absolute pussy for a keeper.
That's ridiculous to say because he's had a chance 4 games and has been poor and I'm saying he's not ready that's all. We're in a relegation battle and no1 is possibly the most important player on the pitch. The two players you mentioned weren't given a run of games and it was the great rafa that didn't fancy them. Woodman quite clearly isn't ready and needs hooking ASAP. When you're ready you're ready.. Darlow was in many people's eyes unlucky to lose his place, so he plays until Dubs is back thankfully
You said he was ****e. He has had 4 games - that's not a significant run of games for a goalkeeper. I watched the Southampton game and didn't think he was poor in that. Our defence on the other hand has been all over the place. You also say the same thing about Longstaff as well, when actually he is probably one of our better midfielders. I am just saying give the younger players a proper chance to prove themselves. Doesn't matter whether it was Rafa, Pardew, Bruce the two players I mentioned weren't given a chance and it is clear now that they had something. Not sure why the manager's don't play them but so called fans who slag them off after only a few games probably don't help, particularly when the manager is under pressure. Its likely to make them less open to trying new players in case it backfires on them. If Bruce had the same attitude with Joelinton that you have with Woodman we would have missed this marvellous run of form that he is finally showing (6 in 12 or something).
He has been ****e though ( doesn't mean he is ill take that back) there's no getting away from it.. He isn't ready and might never be. He doesn't deserve to start ahead of darlow who also deserves his shot after he toof his chance in the no1 stop this time last year. There's no room for sentiment or favouritism.. He needs dropping at the earliest. You're spot on I want to see the likes of Anderson get starts and any young player, but if they're struggling they need to be taken out and worked on or loaned out. It's difficult to give them minutes because nufc are always struggling and managers don't want to risk survival or hang their hat on the unknown. Bruce had opportunity to play youth once survival was assured, but imo he was too focused on matching rafa and his own personal war with nufc fans.
at least he acknowledges his faults unlike Bruce It's how you earn respect only saying please log in to view this image
