    New Zealand are 429 for 7 at the end of the 1st Day of the 1st Test against Sri Lanka at Christchurch
    New Zealand 429 for 7 (McCullum 195, Neesham 85, Willliamson 54)
    Brendon McCullum KO-ed Sri Lanka on Boxing Day with the fastest century in New Zealand's Test history. Not content with that, he nearly broke the world record for the quickest double-hundred, but fell five runs short - for 195 off 134 deliveries.

    Australia drew with India in the 3rd test at Melbourne

    This was the first drawn test at the MCG for 17 years!
    Australia lead the 4 match series 2-0 with one test to play

    MS Dhoni has retired from Test cricket with immediate effect following the drawn Test against Australia. Virat Kohli will take over as India captain for the final Test of the series, which India have already lost, in Sydney.

    The second Test between South Africa and West Indies finished in a draw after no play was possible on the final day in Port Elizabeth because of rain.
    Having won the first Test South Africa will take a 1-0 lead into the final match of the series in Cape Town on 2 January.

    Australian Dav Whatmore has been named as the new coach of Zimbabwe.
    The Sri Lanka-born 60-year-old has agreed a contract until the end of the World Cup in March 2015

    Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara has become the fastest player to reach 12,000 runs in Test cricket - and only the fifth to reach the landmark.
    The 37-year-old achieved the feat in his 224th Test innings, during his side's second Test in New Zealand. India's Sachin Tendulkar and Australia's Ricky Ponting both needed 247 innings to surpass the mark
