Here's to Rodon and Sarr having stormers in the tournament. Also agree with the sentiment to watch Senegal whenever Sarr is in the team (and I thought I was going to decline watching WC 2022) .
Also, here's to me posting cat turds through the Villarreal coach's letterbox every day of the tournament, given that cost lo Celso his spot in the squad (and also ****ed our plans for cashing in on him in January)
Villarreal rushed him back from injury too quick and his knock became a full-blown injury that requires surgery, costing him his WC spot a week before the squads were announced
Surprised he would have took that risk knowing his injury record and the fact he usually prioritises the national team over club football.
He'd missed 203 games through a knock, so I don't blame him for wanting to get some minutes in his legs On the other hand, I do blame Villarreal for rushing him back into the starting xi rather than giving him a couple of run-outs from the bench, as he got nobbled within the first 25 minutes as soon as he was back in the team
Clubs + players everywhere have had to operate in the shadow of WC 2022. Would be interesting to get the "source" data on international players that get to Qatar, and those who got injured during the season to date. Sad for GLC as that could be his last chance to be in a WC, but as said also angry if a loan club took a big risk on his fitness (thus denying Spurs a potential shop window with january looming) .
please log in to view this image To tell you the truth, they were very hard and sad days for me. As you know, the injury will have kept me away from the courts for a while. Any kid dreams of being in the most beautiful tournament in the world. I tried everything I could, but there was no way. Wish the best to the group whose turn it is to go, which I have no doubt will represent the country in the best possible way. I will be supporting as one more Argentine from anywhere for all the messages of support and affection received during these days. Thanks Gio.
The whole thing is a farce isn’t it. This has to be the one and only time a World Cup takes place at this time of year. I’m all for different countries hosting it but if your country is too hot in June/July then you shouldn’t be allowed to even bid for it.
To have the thing in different locales + optimal climate + minimal disruption to all leagues is an "N variable problem" . The stattery for whether Nov-Dec is a suitable time window will be in soon enough. I can only hope that the price that players may pay to get that point is not wholesale brutal.
World Cup odds: Brazil 7/2 f Argentina 11/2 France 6/1 England 7/1 Spain 8/1 Germany 10/1 Netherlands 14/1 Portugal 14/1 Belgium 16/1 Denmark 28/1 Uruguay 40/1 Croatia 50/1 Switzerland 66/1 Serbia 80/1 Mexico 100/1 Poland 100/1 Senegal 100/1 USA 100/1 Ecuador 150/1 Wales 150/1 Japan 200/1 Morocco 200/1 South Korea 200/1 Cameroon 250/1 Ghana 250/1 Iran 250/1 Australia 500/1 Canada 500/1 Qatar 500/1 Costa Rica 750/1 Saudi Arabia 750/1 Tunisia 750/1 We can probably discount everybody below Croatia and I`m not sure there is an outstanding team amongst the rest, it could be a very open tournament, Belgium and Portugal have some tempting odds.
Because of the climate and their form, I fancy Argentina to win it. Messi finally wins the big one. Uruguay dark horses though, they have a decent squad. Unfortunately and hope I’m wrong but I think England will get no further than last 16
I'm expecting conspiracy theories from the Saudi FA if they get routed every game, what with the regular diplomatic needling between them and Qatar
Said pretty much the same, very well rounded squad with bags of experience and some top quality. I think Valverde could be one of the players of the tournament, been unreal the last 12-18 months for Madrid.
Rodon watch : Nov 21 : USA vs Wales Nov 25 : Wales vs Iran Nov 29 : Wales vs England Sarr watch : Nov 21 : Senegal vs Netherlands Nov 25 : Qatar vs Senegal Nov 29 : Ecuador vs Senegal Nice of FIFA to have both group games on the same day, but I also potentially have to watch one England game.
Nothing to see here... Just Danish journalists being threatened on the streets of Doha for having the temerity to be filming with formal accreditation... This is a fecking joke.
