The fact is that so many England managers do default to conservative tactics, and it's usually hard to fathom why Take Southgate for a prime (and current) example: were England's tactics this dull in 2018? No, they weren't, there was a bit of vigour to them - but since then he's set up like his only takeaway from the entire tournament was the three losses to Belgium, Croatia, and Belgium again and set up the team so the most important players are the myriad of DMs he plays, and that's madness. Madness which inexplicably got to the final of the Euros, but also got England relegated in the Nations League
Our style of a play is a reflection of a manager that got relegated and then sacked by Middlesbrough. Can’t ****ing stand the ****. Can only pray he ****s off after the tournament.
Maguire was our best player by a mile and who thought we would saying that before a ball was kicked. Turns out Brian had the right idea going to a concert tonight!
Depressing that we have so much talent and yet we continue with a manager who has shown little understanding of the talent he has available and how to use them.
Shouldn't lose sight of the fact that despite being on the back foot we had more efforts on target than they did.
This is the USA a country with no interest in football until it was hit in the face with money. This is not Italy or Germany or Brazil or Argentina. That's an awful result.
Wanna slap Southgate through the screen. Wouldn’t be able to miss either with that massive nose of his.
The only way to watch England under Southgate is to make sure you have ample supply of wine. I have, but it does not contribute much to my judgement so watch out Left.
Have the wins in this tournament by Saudi Arabia and Japan already in this tournament not taught you anything? This USA side is ranked much higher than both of those. They play a pressing style that we probably won't encounter again in this tournament and are very good at it. The world order of football is changing and that is not a bad thing. We have all but qualified for the knock-out stages again, we probably won't get beyond the last 8 but thats where we are and have been for years. Having seen France, Spain and Brazil we aren't going to win it, but the doom and gloom and attacks on our most successful manager since Sir Alf are a bit OTT, we play better football now than we did under Hodgson and Capello and not a lot worse than so called golden generation with Eriksen.
