Debatable, a better manager could’ve been the difference between being winners and runners up in the Euros. If Steve Bruce managed Man City he’d probably win something and finish top two/ three in the Prem. This is kind of how I see Southgate with England, he’s gonna win games and go far because he’s got a good group of players, especially in midfield and attack but I don’t think any of England’s recent success is down to him from a tactical/ managerial viewpoint. One thing I will credit him for though is that he seems to be good and getting players to get along with one another, something managers failed at with our previous “golden generation”, as there was always the feeling those players had rivalries within the squad, all of the players under Southgate seem to support one another and put club rivalry aside. He’d be good to keep as a sort of “morale coach” if such a thing exists but should be far away from selection and tactics.
Southgate would be brilliant as England U21s coach precisely because he can get the squad on the same page with a common goal, which would put him in great stead for the U21s given he'd often be at risk of members of the team being fast-tracked into the senior side because The Sun (or whoever) started singing their praises, which is a risk for the youth teams and has been for a good twenty years The problem with the senior side is, unlike in 2018, it is once again giving off the vibe that somebody other than Southgate is dictating who is getting picked, and he's adjusting his formation and system in order to accommodate them - which wouldn't happen at U21 level
Nothing as bad or comparable to Romero though. I think I saw somewhere that Kane this season has played the most minutes of any outfield player in the PL
Not even close to being true https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/mins_played Jefferson Lerma, Declan Rice, James Tarkowski, James Ward-Prowse, Rico Henry and Jarrod Bowen are among the outfield players with more minutes than he has
Fair enough. Original point still stands and backed up by your own list, and that is that Romero is a sicknote
Also, we should apparently drop H and have Jefferson Lerma upfront See if he elbows Sonny when on the same side, the dirty bastard...
Draw doesn’t suit either team especially Cameroon so hoping for some late drama here GKN to score the winner?
After so many goalless or low scoring games, a refreshing change. There have been some decent games but some very dull ones too.
A quick rundown of bonkers Serbia* scorlines at major tournaments * and Montenegro 1998 WC: 2-2 with Germany Euro 2000: 3-3 with Slovenia, 4-3 loss to Spain, 6- loss to Holland 2006 WC: 6-0 loss to Argentina, 3-2 loss to Ivory Coast 2022 WC: 3-3 with Cameroon
South Korea 0-2 down , Son could be on his way home soon and it looks like he took his Tottenham form to Qatar he's has looked off the pace all tournament
This Jo guy is a proper CF, think there’ll be a few European clubs taking an interest in him. Looked decent when he came on against Uruguay and has now bagged a brace.
