Postings Rules and League table ​

It can hardly have escaped people's notice that there is a World Cup starting on Sunday the 20th of November. I have to say that my enthusiasm for this event is muted - a far more edifying spectacle would have been to see Blatter and his cronies placed in the stocks for a couple of hours. Nonetheless I will probably be watching some of it - in between updating myself on non league football (which I hope may get a boost over this period). It's the first time such an event will have happened in winter and so most of us will be here so let's go for it. My choice of colours needs explaining - had I done the same as for the other predictions league and chosen Red, Yellow and Black it might have been seen as a boost for Germany and Belgium. So there's a bit of red and blue for Brits and the French and several others, and the Oranje fitted in as well.

The scoring system is as follows:
For the group stage correct scorelines earn 15 points (eg. 2-1 against 2-1)
The right result (eg. 2-1 against 3-0) earns 3 points.
Right result and score difference (eg 2-1 against 1-0) earns 7 points.
For these purposes a correctly tipped draw (eg. 1-1 against 0-0) earns 7

For the last 16 round these increase
Correct scoreline = 25
Right result = 5
Right score difference = 10

Round of 8 (Quarter Finals)
Correct scoreline = 40
Right result = 10
Right score difference = 20

Semi Finals
Correct scoreline = 80
Right result = 20
Right score difference = 40

Final
Correct scoreline = 160
Right result = 40
Right score difference = 80

In addition if you tip the two teams who you think will be contesting the final you get a 50 point bonus for each of them at the end.
Also if you tip the leading goalscorer you get an additional 50 points at the end.
Both of these are only valid if tipped before the competition has started.

You can tip on a daily basis or round by round. There is no break between rounds ie. the last group matches are played on Friday the 2nd December and the round of 16 commences the next day - I will do my best to make sure that fixtures are posted on here with sufficient time.

Good luck with all that.
I've decided not to watch it at all - and try to take as little interest in it as possible.
Since football is pretty rotten, from the top down, I'm keeping my sights lowered.

 

I doubt if I will be watching games Bodbo - I'm actually hoping that people will get their football ''fix'' by going down to watch their local non league club instead. Maybe it would send a good fingers up to Qatar if all teams played in pink and all kiss each other after goals Whilst being in favour of a boycott of the whole thing, I don't think doing a predictions league is so bad - I'm doing it for the posters on here and not for Qatar.
