Don’t know if it is or was but always thought the first game in the World Cup Finals involved the host nation. Not sure if others know but noticed the first game in this tournament doesn’t involve Quatar. If it is the tradition I thought it was does anyone know why it’s been changed.

Senegal game kicks off at 10 am with England’s game next at 1 pm and Quatar third game up at 4.00 pm.

 

Ah you’re right, thing I was looking at was confusing so must have read it wrong. can only assume most Qataris will be at work at 10am gmt so their game is later so their fans can attend? They’re 3 hours ahead so would be 7pm kick off which is perfect timing for everyone

I think Magkilty will agree that Scotland are absolute garbage and Welshie will agree that Wales are also absolute garbage but what’s with them joining up with the Ukraine just to take on the USA?

It's bizarre, because when the draw was taking place, Jenas definitely said that Qatar would be in the opening game. As you say, that would follow the usual tradition for world cup hosts.
So I'm not sure why they've scheduled 2 games beforehand on the same day.
