Oh dear. Really needed a morale boosting win today. And right now I can't see us doing anything meaningful in January. That hardly ever happens. What a bummer
Funnily enough, I was just thinking that we usually lose our best player late in the January window, and Stockley is probably the only player we have who would be in demand. The fact that he said recently that he wants to end his career at Charlton is an echo of Parker saying he never wanted to play for another club shortly before his exit. Time will tell. But it's also worrying that our midfield didn't function too well yet again. DJ has stopped taking on the full back, Purrington is basically a full back, so we've lost the threat from wide. The formation we play doesn't give the winger support that they get from overlapping full-backs in a 4-4-2, and I think Jacko will have to tweak the formation.
JJ has said Stockley is injured, so that’s good enough for me. I shall disregard the transfer rumour.
Very frustrating experience. Wycombe got the lead in a half with very few chances, and we never really came close to getting level with the exception of that shot that hit the post. I read elswhere that leko got moved out wide by jacko, which I didn't really notice on the stream (I had family at home which was a distraction) but he definately faded badly, while Wycombe (rather cynically but that's how the game is played these days) began to fall over a lot and generally waste time and run down the clock, and we simply didn't have the options on the bench to disrupt their game plan. I really see zero chance we can get into the play offs now, and we don't seem to have the squad to win them either, so now would be a good time to look ahead. We definately need more bite up front, and something to frighten the opposition in midfield.I don't see any need for oans unless they might convert into future players,as we seem set for another season in this league, bu we can start to look at building a squad for the future.
