    Hi Reds

I have been seriously thinking about whether FSG are what we require in order to become a successful club once again.

I intend to spark debate in this thread because I personally believe as fans we should be questioning their output and strategies more than we currently are. Its all good and well stating our players are poor - but why are they? Who bought them in? Under what strategy?

FSG took over in late 2010 and since then our fortunes and standing in the football community have by on large continued to drop. It is now accepted by other football clubs and players around Europe that we are not a big club anymore - more of a 'middle club' on hard times.

This mediocrity I would also state has been accepted by most of our fans - ground down by repeated poor transfers, performances and fiscal policy.

The current policy of FSG is to buy young and hope they develop into top players.

The problem with this is to ensure this you have to buy at good value to mitigate the risk of the players not becoming any good - but FSG and Ayre in particular fail to do this - so over and over again we lose large amounts of money on players who do not develop as required.

I have to question this 'investment in youth' policy.

Firstly it is risky - and is no good in the short term which is also important. To invest in the future you need to have a decent first team to start with which we do not. This leaves a first team of 'potential', not quality, and one that lacks experience and guile.

Are we a club that should be operating this youth experiment? I don't think we are.

Secondly - what is this policy trying to achieve? Adding value indicates a selling price.

Is it FSG's intention to buy cheap, develop and then sell at a profit?

This is clearly not what we want to become and maintain being a top club and is not, by on large, how successful teams operate in modern day modern.

That is the strategy of a sellers club being run for profit by the owners.

This strategy I do not believe is suited to us and is compounding and consolidating our fall from grace.

I personally believe they should sell and we can get some proper investors in. I'm hoping with the increased value of the stadium they will then sell up. Their experiment hasn't worked and they're not getting returns for their investment.

I haven't even mentioned the committee, their poor transfer record or their hike in ticket prices.

    What do people think?

Am I alone in starting to worry about where FSG are going with us?

I disagree, they have backed the manager and not only bought young players but have agreed to older players being purchased.

The young players are essential, we have to develop young players into the squad as we don't have an owner like Man City with endless cash.

The problem is the players brought it ranges from very good to very poor and that is not down to the owners but down to the TC and Manager.

Yay. They've backed every manager and now they finally have their number 1 choice in.

Done a lot of good work off the pitch as well.

Regarding team of potential - Migs, Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Benteke (I think) are over 25.

The potential we bought isn't the problem - it's the seniors that have let us down.

That's the whole strategy I'm suggesting is not working mate.

In regards the people you associate blame with - they're employed by FSG.

the problem is not the owners themselves but the ****ing strategy they have in place for buying players.

what ****ing chance do we have when we have idiots on the board who make important decisions who know **** all about the game, add to the fact Ayre does the negotiating and we are ****ed from the start!!

keep owners change the ****ing transfer strategy is my choice.

Migs - they bought at 25 - is young for a keeper.
Skrts - was not signed by them.
Sakho - they bought at 23
Lovren - they bough at 24
Lucas - was not signed by them
    Henderson - was 21
    Allen - was 22
    Milner...
    Lallana -26
    Benteke 24

By on large that group were bought as young players with potential.

Seldom do FSG buy the finished article which is why we rarely actually improve when we buy someone.

I think the club as a club (not just on the pitch) has been badly run for decades. This is not something that can change overnight. The issue with FSG is that they are not football people. This means they need to hire the best they can and let them manage after establishing strategy and budget.

Yes some portion of the blame has to lie with the owners but in general I don't think they've done a bad job considering the **** we were in before they came along.

The TC and managers have done a **** job though when it comes to transfers.

I will always give them credit for coming in and I don't dislike them as such, I'm just not convinced they're what we need to become a successful club.

I don't personally believe they know how to become one and by on large they're not employing people who do either.

    Keep them.

They swapped out Kenny for Rodgers, fell for his waffle and backed him with millions and filled the squad with what appears to be average players.

They now have a manager with no experience in the English game, with a squad unsuited to his style of play and it will cost millions to sort out the deadwood and bring in his players.

The plus side however is that it appears you have a manager who will trust the younger players at the club. That can only be a good thing and here his experience in Germany could come good because he won't be buying big.

  14. I'm not going into to too much detail here since I hammered this subject last night on the Leicester match thread (with Bow ****ing off halfway through)

I like FSG, they have back their manager on each occasion. They admitted they were not football men when they arrived and needed guidance from football men. They've unfortunately choose the wrong guys for that advance at times.

I have every bit of trust that they are learning. The appoint of a top manager like Klopp rather than going tfor the sentimental (Kenny) / young up and coming guy (Brod) approach suggests this. The transfer committee and wage structure are the biggest concerns.

With Klopp's arrival, I'm not too concerned about the transfer committee. Klopp is a proud guy and he won'#t stand for anything he doesn't agree with.

The wage structure can be worked with, it just makes it a bit harder because we can't just buy already established stars. I can't say I want us to do that anyway, I'd rather have the next star the the current or previous one. It's about signing them at the right time, don't gambled on ten youngsters i the hope they will come good, buy players around the 22-24 years of age mark that have already shown they have something but need to move to a bigger platform to develop further. Players like Suarez, Mascherano, Hyypia, Alonso, Torres, etc.

And they need to deal with the personnel that they have put in place to deal with that strategy as they are getting it wrong. **** rolls downhill and all that.

  18. Or they could sit there genuinely believing the problem was Brod. Who the **** runs a football club by accepting one player in exchange for another?

Players with potential and for the future butter no parsnips when you get embarrassed off the park by a team that got relegated one season and came back up the next.

It's players NOW we need who can hit the ground running, not who hit the ground rolling about yelling 'ow' and then are off injured for months on end; players now who know how to play as a team.

We haven't got that; we've got mediocre.

We have owners who wouldn't know a good player if one smacked them in the face.

We have a new manager who's now being scrutinised because he can do **** all with them and whose sense of humour is rapidly dissipating. I challenge even Pep Gladioli to be able to sort this lot, that's how ****ing bad they are.
