What was your favourite Rangers game in terms of excitement? Some classic matches and battles over the years. Some scrappy wins too but what was your favourite? A few contenders. RANGERS 2 LEEDS UNITED 1, BATTLE OF BRITAIN PT 1 1992 An og from Lukic and a goal from Super Ally cancelling out a 1st minute goal from Gary McAllister against the reigning English champions LEEDS UNITED 1 RANGERS 2, BATTLE OF BRITAIN PT 2 1992 A 2nd minute thunderbolt from Hately followed by yet another from Super Ally in the champions own patch CELTIC 0 RANGERS 3, 1998/99 Rangers clinched the title at Parkhead for the first time ever, winning back the SPL trophy theyâd relinquished the season before after winning it nine times in a row. Neil McCann bagged a brace as the Gers also recorded a 100th league win over their rivals from Glasgowâs Eastend. Sadly, the game was marred when referee Hugh Dallas was hit on the head by a coin thrown from the crowd. Dick Advocaatâs team went on to rub salt into Celtic wounds with a 1-0 Scottish Cup final win over the Hoops that sealed a treble of trophies in the Dutchmanâs first season. RANGERS 3 CELTIC 2, 2002 SCOTTISH CUP FINAL A last minute winner from Peter Lovenkrands gave Rangers a cup double, having already won the League Cup earlier in the season under manager Alex Mcleish. Celtic took the lead twice, but Rangers battled back to end the season on a high against the champions. HIBERNIAN 0 RANGERS 1, 2005 HELICOPTER SUNDAY Gers clinching the title dramatically at Easter Road and forcing that Helicopter to change direction.
Rangers 6 vs Dunfermline 1, in 2003. I'll never experience a game as fraught with nerves as that, ever again, as the title swung back and forth. 1-0 Rangers, 1-0 Celtic, 2-0 Rangers, 2-1 Rangers, 2-0 Celtic, 3-1 Rangers, 3-0 Celtic, Celtic penalty - MISS, 4-1 Rangers, 5-1 Rangers, 4-0 Celtic...... Penalty for 'Gers GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a day that was, fkin magic. Of course, the 140th anniversary game was also very poignant after the club went through the most traumatic period in its history, here was 50,000 Bears still going, even though we were in the 4th tier. Fitting that another world record was broken that day.
Timmy saying Hunfermline [sic] lay down made it even better They won by 4 and missed a pen also I think they skelped dunfermline 6-0 earlier in the season in fife
Jason Dair, nephew of Rangers legend Jim Baxter, scored Dunfermlines goal and who will forget the save from Klos at 3-1 from Brewster! If that'd went in it was Goodnight Venezuela for our title hopes. Hardly the conspiracy that they claimed.
Rangers 0 Juventus 4 back in the 90s was a cracker. Obviously the 6-2 game and the 3-0 pumpfest in the final OF game ever. And more recently the new club's defeats to Stirling Albion, Annan, QotS and spanking by ICT last season were fun.
We solemnly swear to act like 14 year olds, to embarrass the Club and it's supporters at Ibrox and away from home, to moan about Celtic fans singing songs about banned terrorist organisations yet we'll sing our own then when we're pulled for it we will say 'bit wit aboot thayme'. Amen
