Lindsay's live versions of I'm So Afraid and Big Love are pure magic. He is my number one guitarist. I'm lucky to have seen him on many occasions here and jn the States. The Mac were blessed to have received the brilliant Peter Green, then the incomparable Lindsay. Rock titans.
Just thought of someone else deserving of a mention ... Jim Steinman's go to man ... Todd Rundgren ....
Great shout. Todd is class. I think Eddie Van Halen deserves a mention, as does Angus - both mighty players.
What's the best song for guitar work? I'm a huge fan of Maiden's Afraid to Shoot Strangers, but then GN'R's Estranged takes some beating. Of course Comfortably Numb, Hotel California, Stairway to Heaven and The Chain are right up there. With a gun to my head, I'd have to say Freebird. Or Brothers In Arms. It's too hard to choose.
I like a good guitar riff intro so Gimme Shelter, Voodoo Child, Fly Away, Johnny B Goode, Sweet Child of Mine, Layla.
As far as song openings go, Gimme Shelter is probably the greatest, closely followed by You Could Be Mine.
