That is not in dispute (systems reliability engineering 101) .

I contend that there is nothing inherent in "Ange-ball"
that significantly increases the likelihood of squad
injury totals going up above the PL mean.

A Bola have dusted off the annual "Spurs interested in Marcus Edwards return" story already

Have we heard similar headlines (for similar reasons) about KWP yet?

Romano's claiming that we're going to get our business done as quickly as possible this summer.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Probably to pick off targets from clubs trying to balance their FFP books. If there's added value in the market for us, it'll be in spending in that period, whilst many others can't. It's a decent strategy, provided that we're not back to buying players because the club perceives them as being available on the cheap...and 'almost as good as the player that the coach actually wants...'

Seems like that'll be quite a wide selection, given the finances of a lot of Premier League clubs.
Far too many dodgy chancers running them at the moment. They make 'Arry look like an angel.

The collective finances of the vast majority of Serie A clubs also come into play, as basically any team that doesn't qualify for the CL (with the possible exception of Atalanta) is going to have FFP issues, not least Roma as their wage bill bloated horrifically in the last eighteen months for reasons nobody can quite put their finger on...

There's a few clubs in La Liga where similar applies, most obviously Valencia who have been a basket case for a while

We have a huge backlog of senior players with no future at the club. Shifting them has to be our priority. I have no idea how we're going to do it as no one outside the PL seems to have any money.

    Bargaining chips, basically

For example, Juve had interest in Hojbjerg last summer but couldn't meet our asking price - but with Samuel Iling-Junior not signing a contract, now we have a potential solution that will help both parties

To make it "zero sum" on the balance sheet, the best
you can get for any such player will be whatever the
clubs has as their current depreciated value.

In Levy I trust (to do the balancing for a new club so that
the net balance on the Spurs transfer + wage funds is at
    worst zero) .

If any targets are in Euro 2024, and their on-pitch "star"
could rise, I doubt any owning club in reasonable
financial state will do quick business beforehand. :(

Of all the players we’re likely going to actively look to sell, Hojbjerg is the only player I’d back the club on to stand firm over a set asking price. We should absolutely be looking to make at least a solid £10m-£15m profit on the £15m we paid Southampton as he’s comfortably a £30m+ player in today’s market even with just a year left on his deal.

After that, take what we can get for the likes of Emerson, Reguilon, Rodon, Tanganga, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Gil and Richarlison. The latter hopefully claws back around £30m in Europe or £45m-£50m from Saudi, whether he’d go Saudi yet though is a tough one.

In terms of Højbjerg it’s worth considering that we have already amortized his fee over the 5 years of his contract, in the books at least. So to turn a profit on him next year in FFP/PSR terms we’d only need to sell him for like 5m. However I expect him to command a decent fee as he’s a good player even if he has only a year left as you say, but if we got 20m on the table from a club he’d willingly go to on day 1 of the window, we should take it and immediately move for a more transformational holding midfielder.

The good financial position we find ourselves in should be leveraged this summer to move quickly. We have a tonne of wiggle room and don’t need to resort to Forest-esque delay tactics if there are much needed deals to be done.

Of the players you mention I imagine Rodon and Gil will be the easiest to move - Rodon is basically at Leeds now anyway by many accounts. The difficult ones I imagine will be Ndombele, GLC and Emerson - the first two because we’re unlikely to immediately get good offers from clubs they’d accept, and the latter because he seems pretty happy here, but like I said earlier, we are in a financial position where we can bring in another RB and make it clear he’s not going to play, rather than allowing players to call our bluffs like I feel they have done in the past.

The amortisation stuff is for people far more financially literate than myself, lol. All I look at though is that even with a year left, he’s worth substantially more than the £15m we paid out and so should look to bank accordingly.

Agree on Rodon, I think that’s close to being a formality. I think we’ll have decent interest for Tanganga too, he’s too good for the championship and is showing it. Comfortably good enough for a midtable Prem side.

Could've canned Emerson in January, or at least tried to when the Saudis offered £20m but we (stupidly) rejected it, though he probably would’ve turned them down anyway for reasons you’ve mentioned. Hopefully we do as you say and make it clear he won’t play.

Fatboy and glass Argie just need to do all they can as much as us to find a way out. Neither’s wanted here, by the manager or fans, so just **** off basically.

    1. What is that "bank" value ??
    2. And if a suitor will not pay it ... ??

The time-honoured critique of Levy is that on #2
he has often haggled on sales only for marginal gain
    (or worse, phyrric victories) .

Spurs are in the new WHL era now.
The funds available are stable and greater, so we
should hope to see more equitable working with
suitors while satisfying the balance sheet.

Exceptions of course for the likes of NDombele
(in which case "by any means necessary" is actioned :) ) .

I’d say circa £30m-£40m. He’s a Prem proven consistent performer, senior international and also in his prime years. The year left on his contract makes it a bit sketchy on our side but anything less than £25m would feel like we’ve given the buying club a bit of a steal.

Alasdair Gold has outright said we're looking to sign a No6, with Atalanta's Ederson namedropped - even though he mainly plays as a No8 (that being said, Atalanta appear to be in Operation Mindfuck mode this season, as Teun Koopmeiners who mainly plays as a sitting No6 who can play CB if needed is mainly playing as a No10 this season)

Meanwhile, for next season's Loan Watch

Has to be said we're not the only club PO'd with Sevilla at the moment, as Man Utd are also spitting feathers at Hannibal Mejbri not getting game time - which is an issue for him, as he's the Tuinisian named Hannibal based in Spain who doesn't have command of an army which includes a troop of elephants

Not for me, until Arry winds the car window down to have a natter with a press hack.
