please log in to view this image Watford v Leeds United Friday 29th March@20:00 | Vicarage Rd Leeds will be hoping they can pick up where they left off, as they travel down the M1 to face Valérien Ismaël's Watford on Friday evening. The Whites are in a rich vein of form, picking up 37 out of a possible 39 points in 2024, and will be hoping the International break won't have hindered their momentum. Even so, only a point divides the top three. The two sides last met towards the end of September, when second half goals from Piroe, Byram and Anthony gave Daniel Farke's outfit a comfortable win in the end over Watford. please log in to view this image Daniel Farke has kept virtually the same side all year, but may be forced into several unforced changes. Georginio Rutter had keyhole surgery on a troublesome hernia injury, and although his recovery time (ten days) fits within the timescale of the game, he is unlikely to start. This could mean a rare opportunity for Joel Piroe to show his worth, starting alongside Patrick Bamford for the first time this season. The other alternative would be to experiment, playing both Wilfred Gnonto and Dan James, both of whom are in fantastic form. Junior Firpo is also likely to miss out. He travels back from Peru on the day of the match, and likely to be jet lagged after a fifteen hour flight. Sam Byram, who scored his only goal of the season against the Hornets, is likely to deputise. Stuart Dallas and Pascal Struijk remain long term injury casualties, with the latter likely to have to undergo surgery on his troublesome groin.
Id forgotten this was a Friday ko. Thanks for that Ell. brightened up my day no end. Only three days of last break of season left wahaay
I just can't wait for proper footy to start again, we are in such a rich vain of form (as Ell mentioned above) i don't fear no one in the championship. Farke seems to have gelled the team into a fighting unit who play for each other, we also have now for the first time i can remember, certainly in recent years, strength in depth, so the starting eleven & the bench now all sing from the same hyme sheet, and because of all this i can't see nothing but a victory and yet another solid performance. Watford 0 Leeds United 2
I was stationed with a lad from Watford, a right snot goblin who didn't get on with the lads. The words gob ****e fitted him perfectly and was always trying to be hard till he got slapped down a few times. Still it must be something in the water cos I have sice found out most from there are the same. Anyway, I predict a stuffing for them most coming in the second half
Easter is where it all falls apart normally Easter Monday 2017- Leeds 0-1 Wolves- Sheff Weds and Fulham knock Leeds out of the playoffs with 3 games left Good Friday 2019- Leeds 1-2 Wigan (10 men)- Sheff Utd stay 2nd Easter Monday 2019- Brentford 2-0 Leeds- playoffs pretty much confirmed Easter Sunday 2023- Leeds 1-5 Palace- the start of a 9 game winless run that would see Leeds return to the "proper" league Karen Carney was right, Leeds got promoted as they didn't have to play at Easter!
Interestingly on Friday, the 4 teams vying for the autos and the 5 teams with the more realistic chance of the 2 remaining play off spots, neither play each other and all should win, might be worth a couple of quid accy, I'll take Leeds out as I never bet for or against us. 109.23/1
When i was a season ticket holder the lad next to me always bet on leeds to lose on home games 20 quid as they were always good prices so either way he was happy lol one for us winning and the other losing as he pocketed notes to drown his sorrows for free. Yes a draw meant he was happy/sad haha. Good memories
With the injury situation this as become a more difficult weekend that you'd have hoped, if we get through these fixtures with 4 or 6 points then we'll have done well and still be on target.
Still got to be positive lads the run goes on and untill the stats change we have to be confident and bullish. expecting two tough battles but if we keep playing the way we have since new year Watford and Hull have the worrying. Mon the Whites ALAW
Morning all. a bit nervous about this, especially missing Rutter and we are away in London. We will also know the early kick off results, which will benefit us or put pressure on us depending on which way they go.
Injuries sminjuries. We’ve had a remarkably good run with them this season but if we’re missing a few tonight so be it. I thought our ‘b’ team at Chelsea were great. Watford have played better than their results all season though and we have a Tricky little run of fixtures coming up. That said, I guess at this stage of the season they’re all tricky.
