Baz seems to think the club is desperate to keep Greaves and are looking at what options they have to keep him at the club for at least one more season. Certainly doesn't sound like his departure is as imminent as some claim..

Of course Baz could just be saying it to appease the fans, but he could have said it in a very different way if a move really was all but sewn up.

I'd be amazed if he's still here come 1st game. Absolutely delighted, but amazed

Synically baz could be just being the mouthpiece for the club and trying to squash any rumours

I did suggest that in my second paragraph that there's ways to squash rumours and then there's what he said. He wasn't even squashing a rumour, he was just suggesting the club was desperate to keep him. As Pruts then said, if you get an offer of 20-30m you have to let him go, which is exactly what Baz could have said if he knew there was something moving along in the background, but he didn't. Just like with the 'clear the air' talks which Baz said he'd heard nothing about, I think a few of the rumours on here have grown a few legs.

With all due respect to the ITK brigade who drop morsels on here with no context or substantiation and then disappear into the ether, it's not exactly helpful or productive. I'm not expecting them to say 'He's signing for Nottingham Forest for 28.3m pounds on June 5th" but a bit more than "A deal is close to being done" would be helpful.

He rightly should have no intention of playing championship football next season

Shouldn't he? When a relegated team comes down they tend to retain a decent chunk of their squad in order to bounce straight back up. I don't see why giving Greaves a new deal with a clause to release him the following summer if we're not promoted, or else just agree with him to give the team six months to see where we're positioned come January (we could be in the Automatics by then, who knows) is so outlandish. He's 23, people talk about him as if he's 28 and this summer is his last chance for a big payday.

He’s the best centre back in the division, he’s done 3 seasons here. He’s ready and he knows he is. He should want to push himself now

Of course he should want to push himself now, every player should want to play at the highest level they can for as long as they can. That's not to say that giving another 6-12 months to his hometown club to try to secure promotion so that he can play at that highest level with them wouldn't be in his interests as well. As I said, he's 23 not 28, he's not running out of time. If he makes the move to an Everton or the like and they end up relegated next season and we go up, has that move really done him any good? If this logic was applied consistently we'd never have had a chance of signing Carvalho, who had 'done' his time in the Championship and had most recently been playing in the Bundesliga and CL.

Saying he's 'done' 3 seasons here as if it's a notion of him 'doing his time' rather than playing for his hometown club I don't think really represents the concept of captaining City for him. As Baz said he wouldn't be surprised if he stays because he's grown up around the club and is loyal to it. Baz could be just saying what the fans want to hear but as above, he went a step further than he needed to if he's just spinning rubbish. He never said similar about KLP for instance.

Yeah I totally get that side of it, just found Baz's comments interesting in the face of what others had posted on here. I'm fully preparing for him and/or Philogene going, but it's interesting the club seems to be exploring avenues to sell neither if they can. It's probably lip service, as I said, and they'll end up selling one or both, but the language around Greaves is very different to KLP in the lead up to him leaving.

There were quite a few ITKers on here who said when klp left
He would be relegated and we would be in the prem so he shouldn’t have left <laugh>

Greaves is 23 he should be leaving end of for a good fee for us

don’t want him to go but it’s the right time

Greaves is more ready for the Prem now than KLP was when he went to Brentford. Other than Branthwaite and Colwill, there aren’t many quality, young left-footed English centre-halves.

And Brentford have only just pulled clear. Everton even more in the mire and they seem the main club linked for Greaves. If we get a big fee for him I wouldn't stand in the way but sounds like from Baz that Greaves is pretty happy to stay.

Greaves is clearly enjoying his football at the moment and is a City fan, so though I'm sure he's keen to test himself at a higher level, I think he'll be happy to carry on playing for us until the right deal comes along.

We'll be tested at some point in the summer and we do need to raise some cash, but it's unlikely he'll go without a very significant offer.

It’s a sticky one because Everton famously overpay, hence their situation. I want the best for Greaves, but ultimately we come first. Dyche is a cracking manager to play under as a centre back.

Greaves will never make in the premier league, if we had a decent manager he wouldn’t even get into our team. Macca is much better.

I think the HDM might have got Diarra's age wrong here, either that or Huddersfield have some very perceptive scouts...

Fresh from speculation the Tigers are eyeing up a move for Oxford United's in-form winger Josh Murphy, City have now been credited with an interest in Huddersfield Town midfielder Brahima Diarra who is expected to play for his country at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

The Mali Under-23 international is just 20 years of age and is out of contract at the John Smith's Stadium this summer and has so far been unable to agree terms on an extension to his deal, though owing to his age, Town would be entitled to compensation, should he decide to leave.

Diarra, who was born in Paris, joined the Terriers' academy at the age of 1 in July 2019 and has amassed 21 outings in the Championship this term as the West Yorkshire side battle to retain their place in the second tier, collecting two assists with one of those coming against City when Liam Rosenior's side won 2-1 in dramatic fashion back in February.

Reports in Belgium suggest City, along with West Brom, Leicester and Bristol City are interested along with a flurry of clubs in both Belgium and Portugal. The Foxes and Baggies were both linked strongly with the powerful box-to-box midfielder in January, but he remained at the John Smith's Stadium, though it now appears his future will be away from Huddersfield.
