the players refused to play 1 or 2 touch football.

The forwards refused to ever run a channel wide.

Jones in particular for me is not a cm. he wants too much time and touches on the ball all the time. 95% of the time he'd run the ball too long and be closed down or take 4 touches then back pass

Elliott was a complete waste of space. he also just played back.

It was all too slow, too risk adverse and they simply couldn't advance up the park and hoofed it right down the middle at the end of ever period. Like get wide, play it down the side line, get throws, get corners.keep them up in their own half and try get a mistake.

1-0 up and 10 mins later the game fell into this patterns of rubbish slow play.

As i said last night the contract to watchign the speed of the game between city and real and thinking back to our best games v city the difference is night and day.

The next man in won't be alonso or anorim not beasue of klopp, not beacuse the massive salary isn't enough. not i think the can see exactly they issues that are going to be left.

Win and a clean sheet… better than it has been.

Also first game TAA is back starting, keep first clean sheet in about 10 games. Coincidence?

All clubs have issues. Alonso isn't coming because he has more to prove with Leverkusen and fair play to him

Amorim we don't know about yet. If he comes he could be a 2 time league with Sporting before arriving. Rafa was a 2 time La Liga winner with Valencia before coming to Liverpool. And the issues Amorim would come into pale into insignificance to what Rafa walked into.

Amorims tactics and style of play are different to Klopps. We still have a very good team. It's not doom and gloom. We could be Everton.

I think it is important not to dwell too much on the negatives from last night. We started well, got the early goal and were causing them problems. Then Salah missed a very easy one on one with their goalie stranded. I think it would have been a different game had we gone in 2 goals up at half time.
Second half was poor. Slow play, always turning back and Alison frequently had no out ball, when Trent and Robbo went off we looked toothless. We won the game and kept a clean sheet but in reality, we lost this at Anfield with one of the sloppiest performances in Europe that I can remember.
There is little to be gained by being negative now. Klopp deserves a good send off and whatever comes next, I have generally enjoyed the Klopp era, such a pity we came up short

    Who knows.

But I think we've reached the end of a "cycle" here. Maybe that cycle really ended a year ago and we got a last hurrah out of partsof this team in this season.

    Looking forward:

GK: must keep alisson. Must not keep kelleher, must get rid of adrian. must use some of the HG boys that we have like davies, pitaluga, etc
RB: Bradley is a young man that is coming up and needs time. Trent needs to be figured out. Its almost impossible to know what system a new man will use
LB: This position is reaching the end of cycle. Can robertson get more fit and play 90 all the time? Tsmikas needs to go.
CBs: Lets see. we can't get konate fit it seems. We have a couple back ups and vvd who has dropped from again after league cup MASSIVELY. This is hard to know.
CM (proper) endo won't be the long term solution imo. hes too slow. Maccas is also slow. Options are needed here
Attackers who play cm: elliott, carvalho, szobo, jones. When i compare this type of player to what a city or arsenal have I have to shake my head. These are not at the races but obviously szobo is out of position IMO.
LW: Diaz has been making noises since his dad got out. he has angled for a move and i'd be more than happy to see him get it.
RW: Salah - this has to be the end. thanks but he's slow as slow can be now and we need to move on. Buy a real good new fast player and we'd all forget quick neough like torres or suarez.
St: jota and nunez. one can't keep fit and the other can't hit the target. Gakpo is a non entity.

If anyhting i feel a change is emphasis is now due where what klopp did worked and has had its day and now a lot of teams do the same so the weaknesses of the players are exposed. Pundits saying heavy metal football are lazy. most of the teams press high and work hard. IMO we need to reemphasise what we do to moving the ball quicker, much quicker in terms of one and two touch play.

I'm sure 70% of this team will be there next season but to be challenging some chances need to be made, ambitious ones.

Formation is formation, i don't know who will come in and do what but for me the emphasis needs to be on passing speed and getting real pace back into the side.

he's too valuable to waste on a bench IF alisson stays.

we can make too much money by selling him on

Seriously theres good lads coming up. we will be fine.

Only if someone wants to buy him for good price. No points selling him for sake of it for £10m.

    talking 20-30m minimum really.

not that would be robbery you are right.

You want someone to drop a big fee here. 25-30 if anyone can still afford it.

the alternative is selling alisson to PSG, Real, Barca or some such for 60 or 70.

We won't be challenging for the title in the first season of a new manager, it just doesn't happen. You rightly highlight the lack of pace and energy. that is something I thought we'd addressed with Szobbo, but in all honesty, he's left both of those two attributes in his Hungary shirt since @ November. Nunez needs to play with a proper goal poacher - let's see how Danns develops on that score.

I hope the new manager gives Nunez one more year, but I just don't think he fits into Klopp's 4-3-3, and here is the problem, totally exemplified by last night's performance (especially the 2nd half) - we are completely inflexible in tactics and formation. Not sure that's Klopp's fault (who else?) or whether the players are like rabbits in a headlight when faced with having to adapt. But the bottom line is that we cannot afford to have 3 forwards and continually sacrifice the midfield if those three forwards need 3, 4, or even FIVE chances to score, and not difficult chances either. 5 years ago when Salah, Mane and Bobby were in their pomp seems decades ago. We haven't replaced them and perhaps we never will.

Dare we move on from 4-3-3, or at least be a more flexible team? I couldn't understand why we didn't try what United did to us in the last 15 minutes of the FA Cup tie - just throw 8 forward and lob the ball up. What more did we have to lose? We kept giving it to Macca and (the useless) Jones to try and thread it through the press. Top marks to Atlanta, they were very, very good IMO, but they were helped by knowing that we were too rigid in our approach.

Ah well, just a terribly sad way to end Klopp's era.

I did see something online which is probably bollocks but it was saying the players wanted pep lijinders to take over and not Almorin. I would of taken Pep when Kloop first announced but do feel now we need a new manager to give a different perspective as the 4-3-3 ,may have run its course.

The numbers 433 don’t really mean a lot. The positions you take up mid game in the scenarios are what cause the success of it.

City play with 4 defenders, a holding midfielder, 2 ahead of him with a cf and 2 players wider…

you could say he plus 433 but you could also say he plays 3241.

    Arsenal play a traditional 433
    madrid play a traditional 433
    bayern the same
    psg the same

    most top clubs do it.
