That's just the Europa League prize money which helps to explain the top 10 clubs zero interest in all of the lower League clubs

No, it was a very attractive tie on the day and captured the publics imagination, which is the beauty of the FA Cup. Also even if it was 'drawn in a hat', at the time City had already won five FA Cup ties to get to that stage.

Yes, I said that in another post. And that Duane Darby would not have become a legend for his 6 goals.

A breakaway European Super League is coming in my opinion. It’s simply about money these days.

For example, Liverpool’s average home attendance includes 10% ‘ football tourists’. You just have to watch one of their games to see how many Japanese are in the crowd. Holding their half and half scarves aloft with the rest of the vermin.
They might have no connection or real understanding of the club but they’ll spend money in the club shop, that’s what counts.

Serious question , if their owners could get that figure up to 50% to see a substantial increase in revenue would they be happy and would they encourage it?

Of course they would, it’s all about the money.

I honestly think they’d play in an empty stadium if it meant more moolah.

It’s been out on control for years and it’s just getting worse and worse.

If them and their ilk ****ed off would it really be a bad thing?

If we're prepared to play with a lot less funds then it's not a bad thing.

Are some people serious when the say we have to keep replays because without them we wouldn't have signed (Sir) Les Mutrie, Duane Darby woudn't have scored 6, etc?!? Really?
    A butterfly flaps it's wings.....
And what about the dozens, probably hundreds of replays we've endured where they were the last thing either side wanted?
There'd likely be more excitement, magic, etc if it was all decided on the day / night. There's already more than enough games for non-PL clubs. No struggling club should be dependant on a big pay day, which most likely won't come anyway - they'll still have the occasional pay day when they draw a big club. The funding through the pyramid should of course be more equitable to allow grass roots and the pyramid to flourish, but that's a totally different matter to cup replays.

Agreed, so sort that first THEN address replays. Otherwise it's just another nail in the lower leagues coffin, helped by the ****ing FA, who couldn't run a bath!

Sorry, but you are talking nonsense. A lot of supporters of smaller clubs best memories are of going to a big club, getting a draw and then taking them back to their place. This is being done for the benefit of half a dozen clubs in Europe. Clubs who are quite happy to play more games in the new European set up and will no doubt be travelling large distances to play in lucrative friendlies when they have spare time.

The fact is if they are struggling then a big pay day helps. Some people seem to forget that not long ago we were a struggling club. Should we just get rid of all but the PL?

So it's for the benefit of half a dozen clubs who manage to get a draw away at a big club then take them back to their place?
I think some people are choosing only to look at rare exceptions on one side of the coin (Duane Darby's, Ronnie Radfords, etc) to justify something that should have been binned a long time ago. On the opposite side of the coin, there's no fun, sense or benefit whatsoever in drawing say Exeter in a cup game where the game ends in a draw, then there's a mid-week replay to fit in which knackers up the planned schedules, involving a 600 mile round trip and big expense (for the club and supporters). A cup game to me should be all about a winner on the day. Small clubs can still have their big day out every now and then when they draw a big club home or away. Memories will still be made.
The funding situation of English football is a different, only tenuously linked, matter.
